2012 Nissan Rogue Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Rogue Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, For 2012, the Nissan Rogue adds a new Special Edition trim package, a 360-degree camera view and new wheel designs. It’s hard to stand out in a crowd, and increasingly so in the competitive class of small crossover utility vehicles. So it’s a credit to Nissan designers and engineers who have made the 2012 Nissan Rogue attract attention through a blend of interior refinement, sharp styling and agile road handling.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan Rogue is a five-passenger compact crossover SUV available in two trim levels: S and SV.

The base S comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, folding side mirrors, cruise control, a tilt (but non-telescoping) steering wheel, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a trip computer and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack.

The new Special Edition package available for the Rogue S adds 16-inch alloy wheels, foglights, rear privacy glass, a 4.3-inch-display audio screen, a rearview camera and an upgraded sound system with a USB/iPod interface, steering wheel audio controls and satellite radio.

Most of those features are standard on the Rouge SV. In addition, it gains 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition/entry, upgraded upholstery, a six-way power driver seat (with power lumbar adjustment), a fold-down front passenger seat and Bluetooth connectivity.

There are two packages available for the Rogue SV. The Premium package bundles together a sunroof, automatic headlights, automatic climate control and a navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen display and real-time traffic updates. The SL package includes Premium package features and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, foglights, heated side mirrors, leather upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 360-degree camera view and a premium Bose audio system with a subwoofer.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Nissan Rogue is available with either front- or all-wheel drive. It’s powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, put to the ground through a CVT.

Fuel economy is similar to most of the competition. The front-wheel-drive Rogue has EPA estimates of 22 mpg city/28 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined, while the AWD variant drops slightly to 22/26/24 mpg.

Safety

The Rogue comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and active front head restraints.

In government frontal crash tests, the Rogue earned four (out of five) stars for overall crash protection, with four stars for overall frontal-impact protection and five stars for side impacts. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Rogue its highest rating of “Good” for frontal offset and side-impact protection and a second-best “Acceptable” for roof-strength integrity.

Interior Design and Special Features

The 2012 Nissan Rogue presents one of the nicest interiors of any compact crossover at this price. Comfortable seats, intuitive controls and high-quality materials are just a few of the highlights of this surprisingly pleasant cabin. A substantial center console bin, massive glovebox and clever under-floor organizer make up for a dearth of at-hand storage nooks, however.

The Rogue’s rear-seat versatility is somewhat limited. Unlike in competing crossovers, the Rogue’s rear seats don’t recline or slide fore and aft, nor is there a center armrest. With the seatbacks upright, there are 28.9 cubic feet of storage, average for the class. Folding the seats yields 59.7 feet, still less than in its competitors. But a fold-down front passenger seat (a standard feature on the SV) does open up a length of 8.5 feet front to rear, allowing for items like ladders, lumber, surfboards and snowboards.

Driving Impressions

The promise of crossovers lies in SUV versatility with passenger-car manners. The 2012 Nissan Rogue does one better; it drives like a car with capable handling. Road bumps and imperfections are absorbed with ease, highway stability is exemplary and handling is aided by good body control and one of the best-feeling steering systems in the class. Four-cylinder power is adequate enough, but the CVT’s constant drone at full throttle can tax ears and nerves.

2012 Nissan Pathfinder Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Pathfinder Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The Pathfinder is Nissan’s midsize SUV. The original Pathfinder was introduced in 1985, long before sport utilities became fashionable, as a 2-door vehicle based on the 4WD pickup and was praised for its off-road abilities. Changes in U.S. vehicle import laws spurred the evolution of the Pathfinder into a 4-door in 1990. In the middle of the 1999 model year a new Pathfinder debuted that was no longer truck-based, featuring a unique MonoFrame construction for a smoother, quieter ride. The all-new 2005 Pathfinder is built on an all-steel frame based on the full-size Armada SUV, offers three rows of seating, and is assembled at Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee manufacturing facility. The 2012 Nissan Pathfinder lineup receives just a couple of tweaks including the addition of the navigation system as standard equipment on the top-of-the-line LE trim level.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan Pathfinder is a midsize seven-passenger SUV offered in five trim levels: S, SV, Silver, LE V6 and LE V8.

Standard equipment on the entry-level S model includes 16-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, roof rack rails, air-conditioning, an eight-way manually adjustable driver seat, cruise control, full power accessories, a tilt steering wheel and a six-speaker stereo with a CD player.

The SV adds 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, foglights, running boards, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning, upgraded cloth upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, power-adjustable pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch color multi-information display, a rearview camera, a six-disc CD changer and an auxiliary audio jack.

Step up to the Silver trim level and you get heated mirrors, body-color/chrome side moldings, keyless ignition/entry, leather upholstery, a four-way power passenger seat, heated front seats and Bluetooth.

The LE V6 model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rack crossbars, driver seat memory functions, a heated steering wheel, wood-grain trim and a navigation system with digital music storage. The top-of-the-line LE V8 loses the standard sunroof but gains the 5.6-liter V8 engine and four-wheel drive.

The options list is short and includes a sunroof and the rear-seat video entertainment system.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Nissan Pathfinder is offered with a choice of two engines. The 4.0-liter V6 makes 266 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque, while the LE V8 model gets a 5.6-liter V8 that produces 310 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic is the only transmission offered.

Rear-wheel drive is standard, while a part-time four-wheel-drive system featuring a shift-on-the-fly transfer case is an option on S, SV and Silver models. LE models can be had with an available full-time four-wheel-drive setup.

The LE V8 model made a quick 7.0-second sprint from zero to 60 mph in our testing. But that slight performance gain comes with dismal fuel economy numbers of 13/18/14 mpg. Properly equipped, the V8 model can tow 7,000 pounds.

Safety

The 2012 Nissan Pathfinder comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front seat active head restraints, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Pathfinder its highest possible rating of “Good” in both frontal-offset and side crash tests but a second-lowest score of “Marginal” for the roof-strength test.

Interior Design and Special Features

Inside the cabin, the 2012 Nissan Pathfinder’s front seats are comfortable enough, but second-row passengers will find foot and shoulder room in short supply. The standard third-row seat is really only suitable for kids, and they’ll have a hard time getting back there because of the elevated placement of the Pathfinder’s rear door handles and its high step-in height. The Pathfinder’s interior design is also showing its age, with a ho-hum look and a lot of small buttons on the center stack.

When it comes time to transport cargo, the interior’s 40/20/40-split second-row and 50/50-split third-row seats fold down to create a flat load floor and 79 cubic feet of cargo room. This is less than most large crossovers.

Driving Impressions

No matter which engine you choose, you’ll find that the 2012 Nissan Pathfinder performs admirably, with both the V6 and V8 producing strong acceleration. The five-speed automatic transmission helps make the most of this power with smooth, well-timed gearshifts.

In fact, the driving experience feels almost sporty thanks to precise, responsive steering. The Pathfinder can’t escape its truck-based roots, though, and there’s the usual body roll during cornering, while a suspension calibrated for hauling and towing delivers a stiff-legged ride on bad pavement.

2012 Nissan Murano Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Murano Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The Murano is Nissan’s midsize crossover that received its first redesign as an early 2009 model after skipping the 2008 model year. First introduced as a 2003 model, Murano is named after the elegant sculpted glass art that comes from the islands near Venice, as a tribute to the dramatic exterior and interior styling of Murano. Nissan’s first crossover SUV, Murano combines the desirable attributes of a truck-based SUV, such as cargo capacity, ride height and available all-wheel drive, with the refinement, handling, and ride comfort of a sedan.

The 2012 Nissan Murano sees only minor changes, including a new Platinum Edition option package for top-of-the-line LE models and a new 7-inch monochrome screen on the entry-level S trim level.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan Murano is a midsize five-passenger crossover SUV available in four trim levels: S, SV, SL and LE.

The entry-level S comes well-equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, variable intermittent wipers, deep-tinted rear privacy glass, keyless entry/ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, a height-adjustable driver seat, a reclining 60/40-split rear seat, a 7-inch monochrome screen, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a six-speaker stereo with a six-CD changer and an auxiliary audio input jack.

The SV adds automatic headlights, foglights, a panoramic sunroof, roof rack side rails, power front seats (eight-way driver and four-way passenger), a 7-inch color display, a rearview camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth and an upgraded audio system with satellite radio and iPod integration.

Stepping up to the SL trim gets you rain-sensing wipers, heated outside mirrors, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, driver seat memory, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a nine-speaker Bose audio system with digital music storage. The LE trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, heated rear seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column and wood interior trim.

Optional on SL and LE models is a navigation system that includes voice recognition, real-time traffic and weather, Bluetooth streaming audio and increased digital music storage. Those two trim levels can also be had with a twin-screen headrest-mounted rear DVD entertainment system. New for 2012 is a Platinum Edition option for LE models that bundles exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, a special Sapphire Black paint color and the navigation system.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Nissan Murano is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a CVT and a choice of standard front-wheel drive or an available all-wheel-drive system. EPA estimated fuel economy is 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 18/23/20 with all-wheel drive.

Safety

All 2012 Nissan Murano models feature standard antilock brakes, traction and stability control, active front head restraints, front-seat side-impact airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. In Edmunds brake testing, an all-wheel-drive Murano with 18-inch wheels came to a stop from 60 mph in 126 feet — a good performance for this class.

In government crash testing, the Murano received an overall rating of four stars (out of a possible five), with four stars for overall front impact protection and five stars for side impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Murano its highest rating of “Good” in both the frontal-offset and side crash tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

Inside the 2012 Nissan Murano’s cabin you’ll find an attractively styled space that rivals that of its upscale Infiniti FX cousin for quality of materials and assembly. The Murano also gets high marks for the intuitive operation of technology features including the navigation system, rear seat video entertainment setup and iPod interface.

There’s also seating for five passengers, including a backseat with abundant head- and legroom and seatbacks that recline for greater comfort. Behind those rear seats is 31.6 cubic feet of cargo room, a number that’s on par with the Murano’s competitors. Folding those rear seatbacks down creates a nice flat load floor with 64 cubic feet of room, which falls a tad short of the space available in other midsize five-passenger SUVs.

Driving Impressions

While the 2012 Nissan Murano has its share of imitators, none can quite measure up to it in terms of the driving experience. For example, the nicely tuned suspension gives it nimble handling while still managing to deliver a comfy ride (at least on models without the available 20-inch wheels). Precise steering feel adds to the enjoyment.

The marriage of the eager V6 engine and CVT also works well. While other CVTs tend to respond sluggishly or keep the engine revving at a nearly constant drone, this unit performs as well as any traditional automatic.

2012 Nissan Xterra Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Xterra Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, Nissan first unveiled the Xterra at the 1999 North American International Auto Show. Based on the Frontier pickup truck, the Xterra is a “return to the soul of the sport-utility vehicle,” according to Jerry Hirshberg, former president of Nissan Design International, Inc. The SUV targets younger people who lead active lifestyles and find Nissan’s midsize Pathfinder SUV out of reach. The Xterra is built at Nissan’s Smyrna, TN, plant.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan Xterra is a four-door, five-passenger SUV that’s offered in three trim levels. Entry-level X and midrange S models are both available with a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive, while the off-road-oriented Pro-4X is four-wheel drive only.

The X comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels; rear privacy glass; roof rack side rails; keyless entry; air-conditioning; cloth upholstery; a 60/40 split-folding rear seat; power windows, locks and mirrors; cruise control; tilt-only steering wheel and a six-speaker CD stereo.

Stepping up to the S gets you 16-inch alloy wheels, off-road tires, a driver seat with adjustable height and lumbar, a first aid kit and a cargo organization system. Four-wheel-drive S models also get a roof rack with crossbars and a gear basket.

The Pro-4X adds a number of off-road-ready features including an electronic locking rear differential, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, skid plates and unique 16-inch alloy wheels with upgraded off-road tires, plus foglights and roof-mounted off-road driving lights. Inside upgrades include distinctive cloth upholstery, a fold-flat front passenger seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, white-face gauges, an auto-dimming rearview mirror (with built-in compass), Bluetooth and a nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system with a six-CD changer, auxiliary audio input jack, steering-wheel audio controls and satellite radio (automatic transmission models only). The Pro-4X Leather package adds leather upholstery and a passenger seatback map pocket, but deletes the flat-folding front passenger seat.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Nissan Xterra is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 that produces 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Two-wheel-drive X and S models can only be had with a five-speed automatic transmission, while the four-wheel-drive S and Pro-4X have a choice between the automatic and a six-speed manual. Rear-wheel drive is standard (except on the Pro-4X), and a four-wheel-drive system with a multimode low-range transfer case is available as an option.

Safety

The 2012 Nissan Xterra is equipped with antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. Pro-4X models also come with hill-descent control and hill-start assist.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Xterra its highest rating of “Good” in the frontal-offset and side impact tests and a second-best rating of “Acceptable” in the roof strength test.

Interior Design and Special Features

The 2012 Nissan Xterra is as no-nonsense on the inside as it is on the outside. The styling is relatively plain and there are lots of low-budget hard plastics to be found, but gauges and controls are easy to see and use. While the same can be said for other off-road-oriented SUVs, it bears mentioning that car-based compact crossovers offer noticeably nicer and more well-equipped cabins.

Of course, the Xterra has always been more about function than form, as seen in details like an easy-to-clean cargo floor with multiple tie-down points and available accessories that make it possible to secure bikes and other gear inside and out. If it turns out that the 35 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 66 cubic feet with them folded down isn’t enough cargo room for you, the standard roof rack and gear basket up top stand ready to handle the overflow. Designated storage spaces for a first aid kit and water jug are nice details.

Driving Impressions

The powerful V6 under the hood of the 2012 Nissan Xterra produces more than enough oomph for daily driving. The engine’s good low-end power also makes it well-suited to off-road excursions.

The Xterra’s truck-based construction, abundant ground clearance, long-travel suspension and low-range transfer case give it impressive performance in the dirt, though the Jeep Wrangler still has a bit of an edge here. On the pavement, ride and handling are certainly truckish, though most buyers will likely consider that to be a fair trade-off for the Xterra’s ability to keep on going even after the asphalt ends.

2012 nissan nv2500 Price, Review, Specs

2012 nissan nv2500, what car reviews, Nissan has been full of little surprises in the utility-vehicle realm lately—the Rogue, the Cube, the Juke—and here’s another, although the word “little” doesn’t apply in the case of the NV cargo van. Not when the subject vehicle stands 105 inches tall, with a cargo hold capable of swallowing a couple of basketball teams—or maybe three or four juvenile giraffes—standing at full height.

The surprises here are multiple: first, that Nissan chose to play in this game at all. The full-size-van market amounts to about 300,000 units in most years (although it dipped sharply in 2008 and ’09), and it’s dominated by Ford (about 50 percent) and General Motors (around 45 percent). The Sprinter, which has been sold here wearing Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, and Freightliner badges, has hitherto been the only tall van in this segment and accounts for the other five percent. So, it’s a relatively small market that is 95-percent owned by domestic makes whose loyal customers are hard to seduce. Apparently, Nissan took that as a challenge.

2012 nissan nv2500

2012 nissan nv2500 specs

Engine performance, then, is pretty good for a vehicle in this size and weight class, and fuel economy is about what you’d expect. The EPA doesn’t require mpg ratings for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) above 8500 pounds, and the NV tested here carries a 9100-pound GVWR. We logged 11 mpg during the van’s two-week stay—not impressive, but that did include almost 400 miles of towing to and from GingerMan Raceway in western Michigan.

Deliberate Dynamics
This van’s dynamics also are what you’d expect. The suspension manages that towering aspect ratio surprisingly well, but this isn’t the kind of rig you take to your weekend autocross. The steering is slow—4.0 turns lock-to-lock—and transient responses tend toward ponderous.

Pickup Power
Although the underpinnings are new, the powertrains are familiar, as both are from the Nissan pickup inventory. The base van with the high or standard roof is propelled by a 4.0-liter V-6 (261 hp, 281 lb-ft of torque) from the mid-size Frontier. The optional engine is the Titan’s 5.6-liter V-8 (317 hp, 385 lb-ft), which is standard in the top-spec 3500 and powered the example tested here. Both engines transmit power to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. There is no four-wheel-drive option. At the test track, this powertrain plus a 6220-pound curb weight added up to a 0-to-60-mph time of 8.4 seconds—not exactly thrilling, but much quicker than the 11.6 seconds recorded by the last Sprinter we tested. The NV also trumped the Sprinter’s passing times: 4.2 and 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 30 mph to 50 and 50 to 70, respectively, compared with 5.7 and 9.0 seconds. There didn’t seem to be much degradation when we hooked up some 4500 pounds of trailer and race car and loaded a few hundred pounds of spares inside, either.

2012 nissan nv2500 price

Base prices for a standard-roof NV range from $25,570 for the base V-6 1500 model to $30,770 for the 3500 HD SV, giving Nissan’s standard vans pricing parity with domestic equivalents. Although the NV lacks a diesel option, as well as the range of body sizes offered by the Sprinter line, it does come to market with a price schedule that undercuts its high-roof competition by a significant margin. Our test unit—a well-equipped 2500 HD SV high-roof model, had a base price of $31,470.

Nissan 370Z Price, Review, Specs

Nissan 370Z Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, Carrying on a legacy of affordable fun that stretches all the way back to the 240Z of the early 1970s, the 2012 Nissan 370Z is proof that you don’t have to be rich to drive a cool sports car.

With its gutsy engine, athletic handling, sexy styling and driver-oriented two-seat cockpit, the rear-wheel-drive 370Z has all the sports car bases covered. The fact that you can pick one up for about the price of a top-line family sedan makes owning one just that much easier to rationalize.

If the standard 370Z coupe isn’t quite your style, you’ll find the 370Z Roadster delivers the same entertaining driving dynamics with the added bonus of a power-folding soft top that makes it possible to enjoy al fresco motoring in about 20 seconds. If it’s more muscle you want, the high-performance 370Z Nismo model features a more powerful engine, 19-inch alloy wheels and a sport-tuned suspension.

While the 370Z has a lot of strong points, it has a few notable shortcomings. For one thing, the 3.7-liter V6 sounds coarse and almost trucklike when pushed hard and lacks the pleasing exhaust note you’d expect from a car like this. The coupe’s interior is also downright loud, especially with the optional Sport package’s 19-inch wheels and tires, a condition that becomes tedious on longer drives.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan 370Z is offered in two-seat coupe and soft-top convertible body styles. The coupe is available in base, Touring and Nismo trim levels, while the convertible (a.k.a. Roadster) comes in base and Touring only.

Standard features for the entry-level 370Z coupe include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic bi-xenon headlights, heated outside mirrors, keyless ignition/entry, cruise control, automatic climate control, an eight-way manual driver seat, a tilt-adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth upholstery and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack.

Moving up to the Touring coupe gets you leather and faux suede upholstery, heated four-way power seats (includes four-way driver lumbar adjustment), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cargo area cover, Bluetooth phone connectivity and an eight-speaker Bose sound system with an in-dash six-CD changer and satellite radio. The Nismo coupe adds 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and high-performance tires, stiffer suspension tuning, upgraded brakes, a limited-slip rear differential and a more powerful V6, plus unique front and rear fascias, a larger rear wing and special Nismo interior trim details.

The 370Z Roadster comes standard with a power-operated soft top, but is otherwise equipped similarly to the coupe. Likewise for the Roadster Touring model with the addition of heated and ventilated power seats.

Powertrains and Performance

In base and Touring trims, the rear-wheel-drive 2012 Nissan 370Z and 370Z Roadster are powered by a 3.7-liter V6 that puts 332 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque to the pavement through a standard six-speed manual transmission. When equipped with the Sport package, the manual transmission comes with the SynchroRev Match feature, which automatically matches engine rpm to wheel speed during downshifts to make clutch re-engagements super-smooth. A seven-speed automatic transmission with steering-column-mounted shift paddles and rev-matched downshifts is available as an option.

Safety

Standard safety equipment for the 2012 Nissan 370Z includes antilock brakes, traction and stability control, side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags (roof-mounted in the coupe and door-mounted in the Roadster) and active head restraints.

Interior Design and Special Features

The Nissan 370Z’s interior features an attractive design and quality materials, especially in the upscale Touring models with their leather and faux suede upholstery. Seats are comfortable and supportive, and despite the lack of a telescoping adjustment for the steering wheel, the driving position is near ideal. One downside to the car’s styling is that its thick roof pillars make for limited visibility out the back.

Those who opt for the Roadster won’t have long to wait when they want to catch some rays, as the fully lined soft top folds itself neatly under a color-matched hard tonneau cover in roughly 20 seconds. As in most sports cars, luggage space is scarce, with just 6.9 cubic feet of storage under the coupe’s hatchback and a slightly smaller than average 4.2 cubic feet in the convertible’s trunk.

Driving Impressions

Behind the wheel, the 2012 Nissan 370Z delivers all the thrills you’d expect from a true sports car. The standard sport-tuned suspension delivers excellent handling and a surprisingly smooth ride. As you’d expect, the Nismo model’s firmer suspension, larger wheels and performance tires means you’ll be trading away a good bit of ride comfort in everyday driving for outstanding cornering ability that’s well-suited to weekend track days. Pervasive road noise is also an issue for the 370Z coupe.

The 3.7-liter V6 manages to deliver grin-inducing acceleration while still remaining tame enough for tooling around town. Both transmissions are equally likable, and the SynchroRev Match’s blip of the throttle on downshifts is bound to make you feel like a driving champion. One downside to this powertrain is that it just doesn’t sound very good, with a notably coarse nature at high rpm.

The Leaf SL adds a spoiler-mounted solar panel, automatic headlamps, foglamps, a rearview camera and a cargo cover, along with a quick-charge port that facilitates charging to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes at high-voltage public charging stations.

Every Leaf comes standard with Nissan Connection, a remote vehicle access system that reports battery recharging data and can activate the climate control via a cell phone. A home-charging station is optional.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Nissan Leaf is powered by an 80-kilowatt electric motor (107 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque) fed by a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The EPA estimates a driving range of 73 miles, but real-world range may vary and depends on driving style, traffic conditions, cruising speed and battery age. In fact, even ambient temperature plays a role in determining cruising range, because extreme temperatures are detrimental for battery performance. The EPA has given the Leaf an energy efficiency equivalent rating (MPGe) of 106 mpg city/92 mpg highway and 99 mpg combined.

Safety

The 2012 Nissan Leaf comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. A rearview camera is optional on the SL. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Leaf its highest rating of “Good” in frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

The Leaf’s battery pack is located under the floor beneath the seats. This space-efficient placement is partially responsible for the car’s roomy rear seats, which provide comfortable accommodation for adults. There’s no shortage of headroom in the first row, though taller drivers may find their legs a little crunched. The cargo area is on the small side for a hatchback, however, and even when you fold the rear seats, the cargo floor is not flat.

A split-level instrument cluster dominates the cabin. The center control panel features a touchscreen, which controls the standard navigation system and shows special displays for things like cruising range and energy efficiency readouts. You can even program the start time for the recharging system to take advantage of lower electricity rates. Interior quality is about the same as that of other compact cars, but overall fit and finish is noticeably a cut above.

Driving Impressions

If you’ve driven a hybrid, you know how silent they are in electric-only mode. The 2012 Nissan Leaf cruises with this kind of serenity at all times, with only a vague high-pitched whine detectable under heavy throttle. Even the high-pitched noise the Leaf generates to alert pedestrians at low speeds is largely undetectable in the cabin. The downside is that wind and road noise are more noticeable at highway speeds, but overall the Leaf is impressively quiet.

As an electric car, the Leaf offers abundant torque. Acceleration is brisk from the first tap of the throttle, and the car gets up to speed with little fuss — this Nissan certainly shines as an urban runabout. Press on the brake and the pedal is firm and sure, without the sort of strange, vague feel indicative of most regenerative braking systems.

With its battery pack mounted low in the body and a well-tuned electric power steering system, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well the Leaf takes turns. Its responsiveness is typical of that seen in other well-engineered compact family cars, and in most ways the Leaf feels pretty normal to drive.

2012 Nissan Altima Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Altima Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The Altima is Nissan’s midsize sedan and coupe and Nissan’s best-selling car. The Nissan Altima was first introduced in 1992, replacing the Stanza for the 1993 model year. A totally redesigned, second-generation Altima was introduced for the 1998 model year. The larger third-generation Nissan Altima went on sale for the 2002 model year, and for 2005 the Altima received additional interior and exterior upgrades. For 2007 an all-new fourth-generation Altima arrived with distinctive styling and is built on the new Nissan “D” platform with improved body rigidity and a redesigned suspension. For 2008, a coupe version of the Altima was added to the lineup.

While both the midsize Altima sedan and Altima coupe are handsome automobiles, that’s only part of their appeal. Choose the V6-powered 3.5 SR model, for example, and you’ll get both a robust 270-horsepower V6 engine and a firmer suspension that makes this Altima feel more like an expensive sport sedan. Even without these upgrades, the entry-level 2.5 and midrange 2.5 S models offer a decidedly more engaging driving experience than you’d expect from such practically oriented automobiles.

Inside, the Altima sports an attractive and comfortable cabin. The interior can also be fitted out with upscale options like a hard-drive-based navigation system with music storage, Bluetooth streaming audio and a rearview camera. These and many other high-end goodies are bundled together in a number of different packages, meaning some buyers will be forced to shell out money for features they don’t really want in order to get those they do. Another downside to the Altima is that rear seat headroom is a bit tight in both coupe and sedan body styles.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Nissan Altima is offered in coupe and sedan body styles. There are three trim levels: 2.5, 2.5 S and 3.5 SR.

The 2.5 base model’s (sedan only) list of standard equipment includes 16-inch steel wheels, keyless entry, air-conditioning, cruise control, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a trip computer. There are no options offered here, not even a stereo, though the interior is pre-wired with four speakers. The 2.5 S trim, which can be had on both body styles, adds 17-inch alloy wheels (coupe only), keyless ignition/entry and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack.

Available options include a new Value package that comes with automatic headlights, Bluetooth, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. The Special Edition package adds alloy wheels, automatic headlights, foglights, a rear spoiler and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.

Powertrains and Performance

Under the hood, the front-wheel-drive 2012 Nissan Altima can be had with one of two engines. All 2.5 models get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 175 hp and 180 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard on all sedans, but it’s optional on the coupe, which has a six-speed manual standard. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2.5-liter engine is 23 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined with the CVT, and 23/31/26 mpg with the manual.

Safety

Every 2012 Nissan Altima comes standard with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags that cover both rows.

Interior Design and Special Features

Inside, the 2012 Nissan Altima’s passenger cabin offers top-quality materials and attractive, if a bit plain, styling. Up front, Altima coupes feature nicely bolstered sport seats in place of the sedan’s flatter front buckets. Both the Altima coupe and sedan offer a bit less rear-seat head- and legroom than some of their competitors, though it’s really only an issue in the coupe and even then there’s enough space to squeeze in a couple of adults for a short trip.

Driving Impressions

Which 2012 Nissan Altima model is right for you depends a lot on your expectations. The four-cylinder engine under the hood of 2.5 models feels lively enough that it should be more than adequate for a majority of buyers. The CVT pleased several of our editors with its smooth and responsive performance, while others felt it made the engine seem noisier under hard acceleration. The suspension here is biased toward ride comfort, though handling doesn’t suffer all that much for it. On the highway, the Altima’s ride quality never feels harsh or busy, and wind and road noise are muted.

2012 Nissan Frontier Price, Review, Specs

2012 Nissan Frontier Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The 2012 Nissan Frontier is a midsize pickup truck that offers notably good power, admirable handling and able towing capacity. A wide variety of cab and trim levels offers plenty of options for perspective buyers. Engine choices include a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 152 horsepower and is EPA-rated at 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway with the manual transmission, and a hefty 4.0-liter V6 capable of 261hp that’s rated at 20 mpg on the highway in the two-wheel drive version.

The Frontier is a stylish truck, yet it’s clearly meant for work. In front is a distinctive grille and pronounced fender flares that give it a certain robust appeal. Inside is a continuation of the purposeful look, with all the controls in places that make them easy to reach and operate.

The ride is good with all models, and the handling is tight and fairly nimble. On gravel roads, we found the 4WD works well and enhances traction and control.

Lineup

Two body styles are offered on the 2011 Nissan Frontier: a King (extended) Cab with rearward-opening rear doors and flip-down seats, and a Crew Cab with a conventional four-door layout and a 60/40-split-folding bench that seats three. All King Cab trims have a six-foot cargo bed, while Crew Cab models offer five- or six-foot bed lengths.

Exterior

The Frontier is available only in King Cab (extended cab) and crew-cab body styles, with crew-cab SV and SL models offering a long-box option that measures 13 inches longer than the standard bed. Exterior features include:

* Tough PRO-4X appearance
* Off-road-worthy approach/departure angles
* Muscular but not intimidating wheel flares
* Factory spray-on bedliner on V-6 models
* Adjustable tie-down system on V-6 models
* Available roof rack on crew-cab models
* Locking tailgate

Interior

All models have supportive, comfortable front bucket seats. Adults have adequate legroom in the rear of the crew cab. Leather seating and a Rockford Fosgate premium stereo are available on crew-cab models. The PRO-4X truck has a unique interior with custom seating. Interior features include:

* Removable underseat storage in King Cab
* Easy-to-read gauges
* Two glove boxes, two 12-volt outlets

Safety

The Frontier offers side curtain airbags as standard equipment on all four- and six-cylinder models and a standard electronic stability system.

Hill start assist and hill descent control comes on all SV and SL four-wheel-drive models with an automatic transmission. Hill descent control allows slow hill descent without constant pressure on the brake pedal. Hill start assist allows the driver to stop on an incline, release the brake and not roll back for two seconds as the driver’s foot moves to the accelerator.

Additional safety features include:

* All-disc antilock brakes
* Three-point seat belts in all seating locations
* Latch anchor system in crew cab

Driving Impressions

The notably better fuel economy of the four-cylinder engine aside, we think more people will prefer the 2012 Nissan Frontier’s gutsy V6 engine. In addition to more lively performance in everyday driving, this engine also ups the Frontier’s towing capacity to a very healthy 6,500 pounds. While it’s nice to see manual transmissions still offered here, the automatic transmission is a good match for this engine, delivering well-timed shifts whether you’re negotiating a rugged backcountry trail or just driving home from work.

Nissan Juke Reviews, Specs, Prices

Nissan Juke Reviews, Specs, Prices, what car reviews, Nissan released its newest product called the Juke. Nissan Juke is one of the sport SUV model that will become a mainstay of the market to compete with the Nissan car class. With a strong physical form coupled with a 1500 cc engine HR15DE it is worth if Nissan hopes this new product will be a dream car in Indonesia. The fans also can not wait to see what kind of specs and prices which photo Nisaan Juke has a lot of pictures scattered on the internet.

Besides using the 1500cc engine, Juke also has a 1600 cc engine variants (MR16DDT) equipped with a turbocharger. All these advantages are offered with very reasonable prices.
The new Nissan Juke is the third ‘crossover’ model in the Japanese company’s range. Size-wise it sits in its own niche between traditional superminis such as the Ford Fiesta and small family cars like the Volkswagen Golf.

Interior

Its interior design falls short of the dramatic exterior. The dashboard, while perfectly acceptable, is disappointingly conventional, especially in a class where the Mini, Audi A1 and even the Ford Fiesta are as distinctive inside as out.

The painted console between the front seats – supposedly inspired by the fuel tank of a motorbike – is a token effort to inject some interest. The fact that none of the three paint finishes used in the interior match is a small niggle but one which typifies the general lack of attention to detail that gives its rivals far superior perceived quality.
The Nissan Dynamic Control system – standard on all but base Visia trim – is also unresolved. Its single, colour screen can display either climate control settings or, with the press of a button, three different driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.

Grown-up on the road
On the road the Juke is well resolved on the whole. Its steering is a little numb but its feels more agile than its height would suggest.

It’s not as neat as a Mini or Fiesta when changing direction but this isn’t really a car to be driven flat-out. It’s much better to relax a little and enjoy the overall refinement.
It rides reasonably but a little more suppleness would be welcome over broken city streets when it can feel stiff-legged.
