2012 Lexus IS 350C Price, Review, Specs

2012 Lexus IS 350C Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, For 2012, the Lexus IS 350 C sees no changes of note. But compromise is also the reason that the 2012 Lexus IS 350 C appeals to those looking for a luxury convertible that’s easy to live with. The IS 350 C’s retractable hardtop has many advantages over a conventional soft top, starting with better insulation from the weather, not to mention highway noise. Then there’s the anti-theft quotient, since it can’t be slit open on a dark street. It also retracts in just 20 seconds, making the transition from closed coupe to drop-top cruiser a breeze. The compromises paid for all this come in the form of reduced trunk space when the top is stowed, while this particular application also has an ungainly appearance produced by the hard tonneau cover that conceals the folded top.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The four-passenger 2012 Lexus IS 350 C is a retractable-hardtop luxury convertible that is offered in one well-appointed trim level. There is an IS 250 C with a smaller engine; it’s reviewed separately.

Standard equipment on the IS 350 C includes 17-inch wheels, foglamps, heated mirrors, keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 10-way power front seats (includes two-way lumbar control), leather upholstery and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also standard are the Safety Connect telematics system, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and an eight-speaker sound system with a six-CD changer, satellite radio, auxiliary audio jack and an iPod/USB interface.

The Navigation System package adds a hard-drive-based navigation system, Bluetooth phonebook downloading, a rearview camera, voice commands, real-time traffic and other information, and Lexus Enform (enhanced telematics features). A 14-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound system can be added to the navigation system. The Luxury package adds xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, auto-dimming outside mirrors, automatic wipers, driver memory functions, heated and ventilated front seats and wood trim.

Stand-alone options include a few of the items listed in the above packages, plus 18-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control with the Lexus Pre-Collision system. A variety of F Sport suspension and brake performance parts are also available.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Lexus IS 350 C comes with a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 306 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission that includes manual shift control.

Safety

The IS 350 C comes standard with antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability and traction control, front seat side airbags, front seat knee airbags, front and rear curtain airbags (a rarity among convertibles), pop-up rollover bars and Lexus Safety Connect emergency telematics.

Included with the optional adaptive cruise control is the Lexus Pre-Collision system, which can retract the front seatbelts and activate brake assist immediately when the driver presses the brake pedal if an impending collision is detected.

Interior Design and Special Features

The 2012 Lexus IS 350 C boasts first-class accommodations in terms of premium materials and sporty design. As expected from any Lexus, fit and finish is top-notch. The navigation controls feature a mix of physical and touchscreen buttons for intuitive operation. Unfortunately some climate and audio controls are also run through the touchscreen display and cannot be adjusted when you’re using the navigation system.

Whether the top is raised or lowered, the IS 350 C’s climate control automatically adjusts fan speed and distribution to maintain optimum comfort. The audio system also adapts to al frescomotoring by adjusting the equalizer settings based on wind noise.

Convertibles generally place little emphasis on rear seat comfort, and the IS 350 C is no different. With one of the smallest backseats in its class, space is at a premium for even the smallest of passengers. As with most retractable hardtops, trunk space is significantly reduced when the top is stowed. At its maximum, the trunk offers a decent capacity of 10.8 cubic feet. With the top folded, that figure drops to a puny 2.4 cubes. Fortunately, what remaining space there is will still accommodate a golf bag.

Driving Impressions

Top up or down, the 2012 Lexus IS 350 C delivers high levels of refinement. The body structure proves free of shake and shimmy even when you’re driving over rough pavement, and the folding hardtop provides impressive isolation from highway wind noise. Acceleration is significantly quicker than its IS 250 C twin, so for drivers who desire more lively performance, the IS 350 C is the obvious choice.

The soft suspension and lifeless steering are tuned more for comfort than spirited handling, but the optional F Sport dealer accessory parts are able to add some spice to the mix.

Lexus GX 460 Price, Review, Specs

Lexus GX 460 Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, Other than new chrome-accented body-side moldings for the base trim and high-gloss wheels for the Premium trim, the 2012 Lexus GX 460 is unchanged. Being tough and well-mannered at the same time isn\’t an easy feat to pull off for most SUVs. But the 2012 Lexus GX 460 is one sport-utility that is, in fact, talented in both areas. Whether providing a smooth, quiet highway ride on a long road trip or skillfully negotiating a rock- and root-strewn trail, the GX 460 performs its duties without breaking a sweat. That\’s because this Lexus has proven on- and off-road DNA, as seen in Toyota relatives that include the 4Runner, the FJ Cruiser and the Land Cruiser.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Lexus GX 460 is a seven-passenger luxury SUV offered in base and Premium trim levels.

Standard features on the base GX 460 include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, running boards, a sunroof, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, eight-way power-adjustable heated/ventilated front seats (with power lumbar), driver memory settings, power-folding third-row seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Also standard are a back-up camera and a nine-speaker audio system with a six-CD changer, Bluetooth audio and phone, satellite radio, iPod connectivity and an auxiliary audio jack.

The GX 460 Premium adds adaptive variable suspension (with rear adjustable height control), auto-dimming sideview mirrors, adaptive xenon headlights, upgraded leather upholstery, a heated wood-trimmed steering wheel, heated second-row seats and rear air-conditioning. Most of these features are available as options on the base model.

Other options include front and rear parking sensors, wide front and sideview cameras, power-folding exterior mirrors, a hard-drive-based navigation system, a rear-seat entertainment system with twin screens and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system. The Premium trim is also eligible for adaptive cruise control, the Crawl Control off-road system, a lane-departure warning system and a driver-attention monitor.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Lexus GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 producing 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission — the only available gearbox — routes power to all four wheels via a dual-range transfer case. Properly equipped, the GX 460 can tow up to 6,500 pounds.

In Edmunds testing, the GX 460 accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds, a bit on the slow side for a V8-equipped luxury SUV. EPA fuel ratings come in at 15 mpg city/20 mpg highway and 17 mpg in combined driving.
Safety

The 2012 Lexus GX 460 comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, hill descent control, hill start assist, front- and rear-seat side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags and roll-sensing side curtain airbags spanning all three rows. A collision mitigation system is included with the optional adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure and distracted-driver alerts are also optional features.

In brake testing, the GX 460 slowed from 60 mph to zero in 127 feet, average for its class.

Interior Design and Special Features

The interior of the GX 460 is upscale and assembled with precision, though the overall opulence factor isn\’t quite as high as we\’ve come to expect from other Lexus products. The lengthy features list translates into a somewhat busy-looking control panel, but these controls are easy to use thanks to intuitive placement. The gauges are easily read, as is the optional navigation system.

The 60/40-split-folding rear seats and power-folding third-row seats help add convenience for most everyday suburban affairs, though we\’ve found the second-row seats are hard, flat and hence not particularly comfortable. Cargo space with both rear rows lowered measures a useful 92 cubic feet. Rather than having a typical liftgate, the GX 460 comes with a swinging rear cargo door hinged on the passenger side. The design complicates curbside loading, though a flip-up rear window allows for the stowing of smaller and lighter packages.

Driving Impressions

Because the 2012 Lexus GX 460 is a body-on-frame SUV, it drives more like a truck than car-based crossovers. Still, the GX manages to impress with a refined, smooth ride and respectable handling. Those who like to take corners more aggressively, however, will notice ample body roll and intervention from the stability control system.

The Premium trim\’s adaptive variable suspension and rear adjustable height control enhance versatility and convenience by allowing the driver to select a stiffer or softer suspension tuning for various conditions. These features also adjust the rear height by more than an inch for added off-road ground clearance and for easier cargo loading.

Acceleration from the V8 is fine around town, but with about 5,300 pounds to lug around, the GX 460 can feel winded during highway passing maneuvers. The transmission shifts smoothly, though it can occasionally be hesitant to downshift.

2012 Lexus LS 460 Price, Review, Specs

2012 Lexus LS 460 Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The LS 460 is Lexus’ flagship luxury sedan, first introduced as the LS 400 when the Lexus line was launched by Toyota in 1990. The third-generation LS 430 debuted as a 2001 model with new safety technology, improved performance, and one of the first gas-powered V8 engines to receive Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle certification. The LS 460 was all new for 2007 replacing the LS 430. The fourth-generation LS is built on a sophisticated platform that maintains a delicate balance between ride comfort and responsive handling. A first-ever long-wheelbase model called the LS 460 L is available featuring 4.8 inches of additional space and a host of standard features.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Lexus LS 460 is a large luxury sedan offered in standard- and long-wheelbase (LS 460 L) models. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional on both models. The LS 600h L hybrid is reviewed separately.

The LS 460 comes standard with 18-inch wheels, power-folding and heated exterior mirrors, foglamps, adaptive and automatic xenon headlamps, automatic wipers, a sunroof, cruise control, keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt-and-telescoping multifunction steering wheel, a 16-way power driver seat and 12-way power passenger seat (includes lumbar adjustments, multilevel heating and memory functions), leather upholstery, wood trim, auto-dimming mirrors, a rearview camera, Safety Connect emergency telematics, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio connectivity and a 10-speaker sound system with a six-CD changer, satellite radio and an iPod interface. Opting for AWD brings with it a heated steering wheel.

The LS 460 L adds headlamp washers, automatic high beams, a power trunk lid, power door closers, front and rear parking sensors, rear seat vanity mirrors, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats as standard equipment.

Lexus options usually get bundled into expensive packages, but this varies depending on region. The Comfort package for the LS 460 includes the added LS 460 L items (minus the rear vanity mirrors) and adds a power rear sunshade. The Comfort Plus package goes even further by adding upgraded leather trim, rear-seat side airbags and power rear seats with ventilation, lumbar massage and power-adjustable headrests.

The Sport package (RWD only) includes 19-inch wheels (stand-alone option also) with exclusive summer performance tires, an exterior styling kit, Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned air suspension, sport front seats, special two-tone interior trim with ash burl accents, shift paddles with rev-matched downshifts and a heated, leather-trimmed steering wheel.

The Luxury package (available for the LS 460 L only) adds upgraded leather upholstery, a faux suede headliner and power rear-door sunshades. The Rear Seat Upgrade includes the Luxury package and adds dual-zone rear climate controls, rear audio controls, a refrigerator, rear airbags and power rear seats with lumbar massage and power butterfly headrests. The Executive-Class Seating package includes the Rear Seat Upgrade plus a fixed center console (deletes center seat), a wood-trimmed retractable table, a rear-seat DVD system and a 45-degree power-reclining right rear seat with leg rest and multifunction massage.

Options available on both the LS 460 and LS 460 L include the Appearance package, which adds the same body kit as the Sport package and, on rear-drive models, 19-inch wheels with all-season tires. The optional navigation system adds Bluetooth phonebook download capability, Lexus Enform telematics services, voice controls and real-time traffic, weather, sports and stocks.

Also available is a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system with a DVD/CD changer. A self-parking system can be specified, but only in a bundle with other options packages. Adaptive cruise control and the Advanced Pre-Collision Safety system are packaged together. The air suspension is a stand-alone option available only on AWD models and the LS 460 L.

Powertrains and Performance

Powering the 2012 Lexus LS 460 is a 4.6-liter V8 that produces 380 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard, with all-wheel drive available.

Safety

Standard safety features on the 2012 Lexus LS 460 include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, front-seat knee airbags, active front head restraints and emergency telematics. Optional items include rear side airbags and the Advanced Pre-Collision Safety system that pairs with the adaptive cruise-control radar emitters to sense an impending impact (with either another car or a pedestrian), then optimizes brake response and crash preparedness.

Interior Design and Special Features

As is fitting for a Lexus flagship, the interior of the 2012 LS 460 represents the best the company has to offer, with craftsmanship and materials beyond reproach. But the overall design is a bit staid when compared to more dramatic treatments found in some European luxury sedans. To its credit, the Lexus controls are simple and intuitive, featuring both a touchscreen and clearly labeled physical buttons. The iPod interface comes up a little short in functionality, though.

Cabin space is exceptional for all occupants in the regular-wheelbase version, while the extended-wheelbase LS 460 L could easily serve limousine duty. The Executive-Class Seating package takes rear comfort to absurd levels with a 45-degree seat recline, lumbar massage and a footrest. Outside of the LS, you\’d need a Maybach or Rolls-Royce to get rear-seat coddling like this. Trunk space is generous at 18 cubic feet, but it drops to 15.5 cubes if rear-seat climate control is specified.

Driving Impressions

Under almost any driving condition, the 2012 Lexus LS 460 insulates its occupants from the outside world with a serene ride and an ultra-quiet interior. Acceleration isn\’t all that remarkable for a premium flagship, but the V8 and eight-speed transmission nonetheless provide smooth power and shifts. Under more aggressive maneuvers, the base LS suspension exhibits significant dive during heavy braking and pronounced body roll while cornering. The optional Sport package does make a notable improvement in the LS\’s handling capabilities.

2012 Lexus RX 450h Price, Review, Specs

2012 Lexus RX 450h Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The RX 450h is the luxury hybrid crossover SUV from Lexus, which is redesigned for 2010 and replaces the RX 400h, which has been the top trim level of the RX lineup since it debuted for the 2006 model year. The new RX 450h designation is indicative of the updated Lexus Hybrid Drive, which delivers 295 horsepower and improved fuel economy. The 3.5-liter V6 engine adopts the Atkinson-cycle combustion system, and the 288-volt DC nickel-metal hydride battery pack is lighter and more compact. Available with all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, the redesigned RX 450h features a new version of the Lexus L-finesse design language while retaining the distinctive RX appearance. The original Lexus RX 300 was the first luxury crossover SUV when it arrived in 1998 as a 1999 model, and the RX 400h followed as the first luxury crossover SUV hybrid.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Lexus RX 450h is a five-passenger midsize luxury SUV available in front- or all-wheel-drive versions. It comes in one well-appointed trim level.

Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, foglights, auto-dimming mirrors, keyless ignition/entry, 10-way power front seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, wood interior trim, sliding and reclining second-row seats and a nine-speaker audio system with a six-disc CD changer, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.

Options are bundled in a number of packages. The Premium package adds leather seating, a sunroof, a power tailgate, driver-seat memory, a rear-seat armrest and an iPod interface. Additional option bundles require the Premium package. The Comfort package tacks on adaptive xenon headlights with automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, heated/ventilated front seats and an upgraded 12-speaker audio system.

The Luxury package includes 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, power-retractable outside mirrors, upgraded leather seating, side-view cameras, a wood and leather steering wheel and extendable front seat cushions. The Navigation package features a hard-drive-based navigation system (with real-time traffic and voice control), the Lexus Remote Touch interface, a back-up camera, increased Bluetooth functionality and Lexus Enform telematics.

Individual options include park assist, a 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium stereo system, a rear-seat entertainment system with twin headrest-mounted displays, a head-up display and adaptive cruise control with a pre-collision system (AWD only). Some of the various package features are also available as stand-alone options.

Powertrains and Performance

Powering the 2012 Lexus RX 450h is a combination of a 3.5-liter gasoline V6 engine and electric motors. Front-wheel-drive models use two motors: one acting as a starter/generator and the other providing propulsion. The all-wheel-drive version adds a third electric motor to drive the rear wheels. Total output amounts to 295 hp that is routed through a specialized continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Safety

Standard safety equipment for the 2012 Lexus RX 450h includes antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front- and rear-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and dual front knee bags. Safety Connect, a telematics service with automatic collision notification, a stolen-vehicle locator and an emergency assistance button, is also included. Optional is the pre-collision system that comes packaged with adaptive cruise control. It determines when an accident is unavoidable and tightens the front seatbelts and initializes brake assist.

In government crash tests, the RX450h received a total score of four stars (out of five). It earned four stars for overall frontal crash protection and five stars for overall side crash protection. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, the related RX 350 earned a perfect \”Good\” rating for its performance in frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

Upscale appointments, exceptional cabin materials and cutting-edge tech features make the 2012 Lexus RX 450h look and feel much more expensive than its midlevel luxury status would suggest. Authentic wood trim and high-quality leather lend an air of opulence, and the optional Mark Levinson audio is one of the best sound systems on the market.

Another noteworthy option is the navigation system that features the Remote Touch interface, a mouselike controller that replaces the traditional touchscreen operation. The controller features haptic feedback when rolling over on-screen controls, allowing the user to \”feel\” the buttons. We found this system to be immediately intuitive and easier to use than other competing interfaces.

Rear passengers will find the seating roomy and comfortable thanks to reclining and sliding adjustments. Luggage and cargo space are accommodating as well, allowing up to 40 cubic feet behind the 40/20/40-split-folding rear seats and 80 cubes with them stowed.

Driving Impressions

The 2012 Lexus RX 450h doesn\’t disappoint when it comes to a smooth ride. The compliant suspension and plentiful sound insulation ably isolate passengers from the outside world. The hybrid powertrain is also pretty silent, though at full throttle the V6 does make a surprising amount of noise. The softly sprung suspension never feels uncontrolled, but it\’s far from athletic.

The RX 450h is capable of approaching 30 mph in electric-only mode, which improves fuel economy, especially in stop-and-go traffic. An \”EV\” mode is also at the driver\’s command, which allows electric-only propulsion at low speeds over short distances.

2012 Lexus LS 600h Price, Review, Specs

2012 Lexus LS 600h Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, Lexus takes technology and luxury far beyond current standards with its clean and powerful LS 600 hybrid sedan.

Erasing any doubts about the power potential of hybrid drive systems, the LS 600h produces a combined 430-hp from its 5.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor hybrid powertrain. This power is sent to all four wheels via an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Despite this power, the car is rated as a Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle 2. Additionally, the hybrid powertrain results in a drive even quieter and softer than the already quiet Lexus cabin. Sensors and cameras mounted in the front of the car detect obstacles both large and small, warning the driver if a collision is imminent. A steering column mounted camera monitors the driver and sounds a warning chime if the driver is looking away for too long. The LS600h can even be equipped to park itself.

All variations of the LS sedan feature very recent exterior styling featuring a revised front fascia, headlamps, and taillamps. In the case of the LS 600h L model, the front fascia will get a unique treatment in the LS line to help distinguish its greener attributes in the form of a chrome grill similar to the Lexus HS 250h hybrid.

The recently updated LS 600h L features upgrades over the previous model that include a larger usable trunk space due to a reconfigured battery pack as well as new telematics, USB connectivity and updated navigation.

Traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and 10 airbags are of course standard. The power steering is electrical and high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights with dynamic auto leveling are included.

In addition to the active safety features, the LS 600h L is standard-equipped with eight airbags, with a maximum of 11 airbags available through option packages. The world\’s first low-beam LED headlamps provide road illumination, and the standard Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) helps to illuminate around turns as the steering wheel is engaged.

Options range from heated rear seats and all-weather floor mats to an advanced Parking Guidance System that will parallel park or back the car into a spot, with the driver only required to press the brake pedal.

The optional Mark Levinson sound system is a little more involved in the LS, as expected, with a Reference badge and includes a Hard Disk Drive with the ability to store up to 2,000 songs, 7.1-channel surround sound support and an in-dash six-disc DVD / CD changer capable of DVD video playback. Total system power is 450 Watts split among 19 speakers.

2011 Lexus RX 350 Review, Price, Specs

2011 Lexus RX 350 Review, Price, Specs, what car reviews, The RX 350 is Lexus’ midsize luxury crossover SUV that is redesigned for the 2010 model year. Available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, Lexus introduced the RX 300 at the 1998 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit and the RX 300 went on to become the best-selling Lexus model. In January 2003, the second-generation RX was unveiled at the NAIAS, renamed the RX 330 to reflect its larger-displacement engine. RX 330 production began in Japan and in September 2003 Lexus began production of the RX 330 at an assembly plant in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, the first Lexus model to be built outside of Japan. The RX 330 became the RX 350 for the 2007 model year with the addition of the 3.5-liter V6 engine.

The all-wheel-drive version features an Active Torque Control AWD system that optimizes torque depending on driving conditions, resulting in improved efficiency and performance.

The new RX has a long list of high-tech gadgets, including an available Hard Disk Drive (HDD) navigation system, featuring an all-new \”Remote Touch\” controller. Positioned on the center console, Remote Touch is comparable to a computer mouse.

\"Lexus

Lexus RX 350 Specs:
The engine in the Lexus RX 350 is a 3.5 liter V6 that delivers 275 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a six-speed automatic with artificial intelligence shift control that uses multiple driving sensors to improve the performance of the vehicle and increase its fuel economy. The vehicle is available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive uses an active torque control that uses front wheel drive until it senses the necessity to add power to the rear wheels based on road conditions.

Fuel economy for the Lexus RX 350 depends on the drive type with the front-wheel drive version rated at 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway and the all-wheel drive version rated at 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Premium gas is a requirement. Towing capacity is 1,500 pounds without the optional Towing Prep Package and increases to 3,500 pounds with the towing package. The Lexus RX 350 has scored the highest rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety with high scores in the frontal-offset, side impact and rear crash tests.

The Lexus RX 350 seats five in two rows of seats. The cargo capacity of the vehicle behind the rear seats is 40 cubic feet and expands to 80.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. The interior is well thought out with high quality leather seats and real wood trim tastefully applied. The navigation system is easy to use with a mouse-like controller that includes functions for audio, navigation and whatever else belongs in a navigation system with functions like climate control using its own buttons.

The Lexus RX 350 is a good-looking crossover vehicle that is as easy to handle in a parking garage or tight space as it is on the highway. It handles well on the highway, absorbing bumps as they come along with a good, firm ride that excels at long highway drives. The all-wheel drive kicks in smoothly as it glides through turns. Overall, the vehicle is well designed and not flashy and one of the better executed crossover SUVs on the road.
The all-new RX offers a wide-angle side view monitor. With a camera located under the passenger side-view mirror, the driver can check hard-to-view areas on the passenger side of the vehicle by simply selecting a button on the navigation screen or the steering wheel and view the camera image on the navigation screen.

The Lexus SC was the third model of the vehicle that was offered on the automotive market in the early 1990s. This vehicle has been sold with several engine options. The SC of yesteryear also hosted a hardtop that was retractible, and even with minimal pizzazz and styling, the vehicle was a top selling unit.

The SC 430 sports a 4.3-Liter V-8 engine with 288 horsepower, 317 ft-lbs. of torque and rear drive. The SC 430\’s engine is joined to a six-speed auto tranny. The convertible configuration can conquer zero to sixty in 5.8 seconds too. Past offerings included the limited edition Pebble Beach model, and most recently, this vehicle has received a number of features that are found in Lexus\’s other vehicles.

The SC 430 is the car\’s second-generation model and it entered the market about ten years after the first SC. This vehicle is nearing its twentieth year and the end of its lifecycle. It will be displaced by the Lexus IS C. Consumers desiring the SC 430 must move fast to get the most recent offering.

The last year of the SC 430 continues the way it always has with low-key lines and somewhat bland styling cues. The 2010 model has new dark-finish 18-inch six-spoke wheels and integrated puddle lamps in the side mirrors. There are so many features that are standard real wood, leather, power everything, Mark Levinson audio system that there are no options in the cabin. The navigation and stereo systems were upgraded for 2010.

The SC 430\’s 288 horsepower V-8 engine with 317-pound-feet of torque is smooth, as is the six-speed automatic transmission. As has been the case through the years, the suspension is tuned for comfort, so the SC does not excel in the slalom. Lexus estimates that its SC 430 reaches 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, finishes the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 149 mph.

Dual front airbags are standard on the SC 430, as well as front seat-mounted side airbags and dual front knee airbags. It also comes with antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, as well as stability control and traction control.

2011 Lexus GS350 Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, There isn\’t much that\’s new for 2011 — on all three models, if the car isn\’t equipped with optional navigation, the rearview mirror includes a compass (navigation system has its own compass). Otherwise, last year\’s improvements carry over: there are new wheel options, an updated grille, a voice command feature for the nav system, Bluetooth connectivity, and options from the F-Sport line including wheels, brakes, intake, and suspension modifications.

The Lexus GS is offered in three configurations and the body dimensions differ for each. The GS 350 sports a 3.5-Liter V-6 churning 303 horsepower. It has a six-speed auto tranny and it comes with AWD. Meanwhile, the GS 460 is built with a 4.6-Liter V-8 motor offering 342 horsepower that is coupled with the eight-speed auto tranny. Finally, the hybrid GS is offered with two engines: the engine in the 350 and an electric motor that delivers 340 horsepower. The latter is married to a CVT tranny.

The GS got a new design in 2006. The enhancements offered include the addition of some nice gadgets including things like iPod-USB-Bluetooth connectivity, and a navigation system. Rumor has it that more refreshments lie ahead, but the 2011 GS offerings remain carryovers from 2010.

Classy and conservative, the GS line looks attractive without making any waves. All models ride on a 112.2-inch wheelbase, and there are 17- and 18-inch wheels to choose from. Run-flat tires also are available. Plenty of lux features abound on the GS: 10-way power adjustable heated front seats, four colors of leather trim, three different wood trims, 10-speaker audio, and cut pile carpeting are standard; navigation system and Mark Levinson audio are options.

The last time Motor Trend tested a GS, it was the 460, and its V-8 got the sedan to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and through the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 102.0 mph. The engine is smooth and the transmission works well overall, but when the GS is driven hard, the eight-speed hunts for gears and there are no paddle shifters here.

Dual front airbags, dual front knee airbags, front side airbags, and front and rear side-curtain airbags are standard. Four-wheel discs and ABS with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution and stability control are also standard.

2011 Lexus HS250h Price, Review & Picture

2011 Lexus HS250h Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, The HS 250h was all new for 2010, so no mechanical or interior changes were announced for the new model year. There was a safety recall that happened for the 2010 HS, which involved reprogramming the antilock brakes. Otherwise, the only news is with exterior color changes: Satin Cashmere Metallic replaces Golden Almond Metallic, Deep Sea Mica replaces Black Sapphire Pearl, and Aurora White Pearl has been discontinued.

\"\"

The Lexus HS 250h is the carmakers very first dedicated hybrid offering. The HS 250h is akin to the Prius by Toyota, but the HS 250h does not get its design from other offerings by the carmaker. The HS 250h has a novel design. Its size positions the HS 250h as a hybrid sedan between the IS and the ES by Lexus. The Lexus HS 250h is the first hybrid with a four-cylinder engine made by the carmaker. The vehicle has a 2.4 Liter, Atkinson cycle DOHC Inline-four coupled with two electric motors. The end result is a car producing 187 horsepower from its Hybrid Synergy Drive system.

The tranny coupled with the setup is a CVT offering. The entire system is like the powertrain identified in the Toyota Camry hybrid. The Lexus HS 250h has an interior with two-toned coloring. The cabin is very spacious and it has superior amenities. The vehicle has things like a remote touch controller, an impeccabl3e navigation system, and it has an optional heads up display as well. This vehicle unifies luxury with practicality.

The HS looks like a smaller car than it actually is. And this is not a rebadged Prius; this is a Lexus sedan with plenty of Lexus styling cues. The HS rolls on standard 17-inch wheels with 18-inchers available as an option. Plenty of tech features here: iPod connectivity and Bluetooth, optional navigation system comes with the computer-mouselike Remote Touch controller, there\’s an optional heads-up display, voice command, and lots of gauges to monitor the hybrid system.

\"\"

The HS 250h gets to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds from a stop and through the quarter mile in 16.2 seconds at 87.9 mph. Even though the HS is 500 pounds heavier than the Prius, it\’s also more powerful, which explains why the HS is two seconds faster to 60. The HS is quiet on the freeway and handles well in turns, although this is no sport sedan. Dual front airbags, front and rear side airbags, dual front knee airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags are standard. Also standard are disc brakes with four-sensor ABS with brake assist, and stability control.

2011 Lexus LX570 Price, Review & Picture

2011 Lexus LX570 Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, There are some minor changes for the 2011 Lexus LS. There is a new black interior with leather trim. A heated steering wheel option has been added to the Luxury Package, which includes semi-aniline leather interior with Bubinga wood trim and a cool box for drinks. The LX receives a brake override system, too. Other than that, the color Costa Azul has been discontinued. The LX 450 by Lexus was launched in 1996. It\’s an SUV made to be a competitor with the Land Cruiser by Toyota. The LX 450 is a full-size, body on frame SUV that has had several improvements. Two years following its launch it was renamed the LX 470. In addition, the LX 470 got a total redesign in 2008. SUV consumers were more than satisfied with implemented changes.

\"\"

The LX 570 SUV has plenty of gadgets too. It is a dependable offering for off road excursions. Any consumer seeking an ordinary vehicle for every day driving will appreciate it too; it has plenty of amenities including things like a Mark Levinson-19 speaker audio system, park assist, and rear seat entertainment features.

The LX 570 SUV seats eight. It has a redesigned exterior/interior. The vehicle proved heavier and bigger. Yet, this three ton vehicle still manages to conquer zero-to-sixty in 6.5 seconds. Under the hood, one will find a 5.7-Liter V-8, 383 horsepower engine married to a six-speed auto tranny. It has solid towing abilities and can tow 8500 pounds.

The new LX looks like a cleaner, smoother version of the previous model — and an awful lot like the Land Cruiser on which it\’s based. The LX rolls on 20-inch wheels as standard equipment, and the wheels in the Luxury Package add a Liquid Graphite finish. The commodious, three-row cabin of the Lexus LX has a variety of leather/wood interiors, 14-way driver seat and 12-way front passenger seat, and a 19-speaker surround sound system. The third row power folds out of the way and the second row power slides.

\"\"

The Lexus LX 570 moves a lot faster than a 6164-pound sport/utility should, going from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. That the 5.7-liter V-8 has 115 more horsepower than the engine it replaces doesn\’t hurt. It also brakes from 60 mph in 133 feet. Handling is not its strong suit, but it is certainly competent in turns.

Dual front airbags, dual front knee airbags, first- and second-row side airbags, and three-row side curtain airbags are standard. The LX also comes standard with disc brakes with ABS, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and stability control.
