2012 Lincoln MKZ Price, Review, Specs

2012 Lincoln MKZ Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The Lincoln MKZ is Lincoln’s midsize five-passenger sedan that receives exterior updates and improved performance for the 2010 model year. The MKZ previously received exterior updates and an engine upgrade for the 2007 model year when it was renamed the MKZ. Originally name the Zephyr for 2006, it was designed to appeal to a new generation of buyers, while still delivering the comfort and refinement expected of a Lincoln. Classic Lincoln design elements include a waterfall grille positioned between quad projector-beam headlights, while the interior features high-quality leather and real wood or aluminum trim. All aspects of the chassis, including spring rates, shocks, and bushings have been tuned for a comfortable ride while still retaining precise responsive handling.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Lincoln MKZ is a midsize luxury sedan that\’s offered in two trim levels — base (V6) and Hybrid.

Apart from their powertrains, both MKZs are identically equipped. The long list of standard features includes 17-inch wheels, foglights, rear parking sensors, keyless entry with an outside keypad, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated eight-way power front seats with driver seat memory, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, auto-dimming driver side and rearview mirrors and full power accessories. Also standard are Ford\’s Sync system and a nine-speaker sound system with six-CD changer, auxiliary/USB audio jacks and satellite radio.

Options include a Navigation package that bundles the expected navigation system with a rearview camera, a blind-spot warning system, a single-CD/DVD audio player, digital music storage capability, HD radio and Sirius Travel Link service. On the Hybrid, the Navigation package also includes a premium surround-sound audio system. The Ultimate package features all the above (including the premium sound) and adds 17-inch chrome wheels, a sunroof (also available as a stand-alone option), adaptive xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers and ambient lighting.

The Sport Appearance package (not available on the Hybrid) adds 18-inch polished alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and distinctive details including contrasting seat piping, aluminum interior trim and darkened exterior trim. The Executive package adds upgraded leather upholstery and real wood interior trim.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2012 Lincoln MKZ is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 263 horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control is standard. Lincoln offers the MKZ in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Fuel economy is respectable, with EPA estimates of 18 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined for front-wheel-drive models and 17/24/19 for all-wheel-drive versions.

The MKZ Hybrid is motivated by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine teamed with an electric motor that together make 191 hp. Power is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). EPA estimates stand at 41/36/39 mpg.

Safety

Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags. The 2012 Lincoln MKZ also gets Ford\’s programmable MyKey system, which allows parents to specify limits for vehicle speed and stereo volume for their teenage drivers.

In government crash tests, the MKZ earned an overall rating of four stars (out of a possible five), with a three-star rating for frontal impacts and four stars for side impacts. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the MKZ its top \”Good\” rating in both frontal-offset and side-crash tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

The 2012 Lincoln MKZ\’s passenger cabin gets some nice feature upgrades and better materials than those found in its Ford Fusion cousin. That said, the interior seems more like something you\’d find on a top-of-the-line mainstream sedan than a car meant to compete with European luxury marques like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

On the upside, the seats are comfortable and both front and rear seat passengers enjoy a good amount of head- and legroom. Out back is an equally generously sized trunk, with 16.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the base model; the Hybrid has only 11.8 cubic feet, due to the battery pack that intrudes into the trunk space.

The MKZ\’s range of available technology is another positive here, especially the navigation system\’s Sirius Travel Link service. Audiophiles will also want to make sure to give the excellent THX surround-sound system a listen.

Driving Impressions

Behind the wheel, the 2012 Lincoln MKZ is perfectly competent, if not very exciting, which makes it a good match for buyers looking for a quiet and comfortable luxury sedan. The V6 offers decent acceleration, though the exhaust note lacks the throaty growl of some of its competitors. The Hybrid provides relatively brisk performance as well as composed handling that\’s similar to that of the non-hybrid version.

Add the sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels that come with the available Sport Appearance package (not available on the Hybrid), however, and things get a bit more interesting. In fact, the MKZ becomes downright fun to drive. The trade-off to this firmer suspension setup, of course, is a rough ride that doesn\’t feel particularly Lincoln-esque.

2012 The Camaro ZL1 Price, Review, Specs

2012 The Camaro ZL1, what car reviews, 2012 The Camaro ZL1 builds upon the highly successful reborn Camaro, albeit with a heavy dose of steroids both in the cosmetic and performance departments – clearly taking direct aim at ford\’s Shelby GT500 Mustang.
To do battle, the ZL1 borrows the 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 that is commonly found under the hood of the CTS-V models – but this time with even more power – making it the fastest production Camaro ever built.

\"2012

2012 The Camaro ZL1 specs

The chevrolet camaro ZL1 has returned from the SAE with an official rating of 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque, beating out the 1969 ZL1’s 427 cubic inch V8 by more than 150 horsepower.
The engine that packs such a ferocious bite is an all-aluminum LSA supercharged small-block chevrolet engine, complete with six-bolt main bearing caps that clamp and lock in the forged steel crankshaft to the deep-skirt block on the engine’s lower end, along with a 1.9-liter Roots-style supercharger that crams air into the engine thanks to a four-lobe set and with the aid of an intercooler.

Chevy says it has modified the LSA engine specifically for the ZL1, including a less restrictive air filter, dual inlet paths and improved airflow throughout the supercharger housing. Chevy also made use of a more efficient intercooler and electric power steering system, all things that help add up to give the ZL1 a power advantage over the similar engine found in the cadillac CTS -V vehicles.Of course, with that much power one needs specially designed transmissions to handle the high output without being prone to failures. To address that, Chevy beefed up its Tremec TR-6060 to MG9-spec, which means it can handle 30 percent more torque. This is achieved through the use of a strengthened output shaft, high-strength rear housing and additional roller bearing.

One very unique feature of the ZL1 is the availability of an automatic transmission. While the notion of adding an automatic transmission may make some enthusiasts cringe, the reality is those with pockets deep enough to purchase this car may very well prefer a six-speed automatic transmission over a do-it-yourself type tranny.
To handle that duty, Chevy has the Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission, which benefits from two additional pinion gears, additional clutch plate and strengthened output shaft and gearset. There are also three drive modes: Drive, Sport and Manual, depending on the driver’s preference at the time.

Magnetic Ride Control
Another major selling point of the ZL1 is the use of GM’s third-generation of Magnetic Ride Control. This technology uses valve-less damping and Magneto-Rheological fluid technology in its shock absorbers to control resistance. Essentially, the system can magnetize particles to change the flow resistance on the fly and adjust the ride from hard to soft, or soft to hard.
The third-gen system uses new twin-wire/dual-coil dampers at all four corners, rather than a single, larger single-core on the outgoing generation. The new system allows for even more precise control and a wider range of comfort levels, allowing up to 1,000 adjustments per second. The MRC system has three preset settings: Tour, Sport and Track.

Performance Traction Management system
The final trick up the ZL1\’s sleeve comes in the form of a performance traction management system intended to used on the track or at drag strips. PTM is standard equipment, having been born in the Corvette ZR1.

PTM works by integrating magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control and electronic stability control to work together optimally depending on the environment and task at hand.

There are five pre-set modes:
Mode 1 – Traction control set for wet conditions, with stability
control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Tour.
Mode 2 – Traction control set for dry conditions, with stability control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Tour.
Mode 3 – Traction control set on Sport 1, with stability control on and Magnetic Ride Control set on Sport.
Mode 4 – Traction control set on Sport 2, with stability control off and Magnetic Ride Control set on Sport.
Mode 5 – Traction control set on Race, with stability control off and Magnetic Ride Control set on Track. Launch control tuned for VHT-prepped drag strips.
This means the ZL1 can be set to work according to the driver’s preference for just about any situation encountered on the road, track or on the strip.

2012 The Camaro ZL1 price

The chevrolet camaro ZL1 base price is $54,995, there are only six options on the ZL1, starting with the choice of transmission. An extra $1,185 will get you a six-speed automatic with manual shift mode. Adding bright aluminum wheels will set you back $470, as will stripes. A sunroof is priced at $900, while the carbon fiber hood insert is $600. Finally, a suede package for the steering wheel and shifter is $500. Leather interior is standard, along with heated power seats, and a nine-speaker audio system with USB port and Bluetooth.

The 2012 Toyota Martix Price, Review, Specs

The 2012 Toyota Matrix, what car reviews, The 2012 Toyota Matrix is closely related to the Corolla sedan, but the Matrix takes a different tack in terms of style and packaging–appealing to a somewhat younger, more active crowd and those who need more versatility.
Last year the Matrix was up for a mid-cycle refresh, but it amounted to some very minor appearance and trim changes. While Toyota had pitched the Matrix as more of a crossover in its first generation, the current Matrix has a lower sportier stance that\’s not all that much different from the Corolla from the front. Yet the Matrix\’s rather high-shouldered sides and prominent, thick rear pillar five it a very different look from all other angles. Inside, the instrument panel is a little swoopier and sportier in appearance, the tall-hatchback layout affords good interior space, and with the Matrix\’s versatile layout and seats that fold easily (and flat) to expand cargo space, you\’ll have no problem freeing up seating space for an especially large load of groceries.

\"The

The 2012 Toyota martrix specs

The Matrix model lineup consists of base and S models, with base models getting a 132-horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and S models stepping up to a 158-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Between the two, we think most shoppers will be happy with the 1.8-liter, as the 2.4-liter is quite a bit thirstier–especially in all-wheel-drive (S AWD) form. A five-speed manual is standard with either engine, but the available automatic has only four speeds with the 1.8-liter (five with the 2.4-liter) which can make the smaller engine seem sluggish in some situations. All-wheel drive is only available on the S model, and even there, only with automatic. Fuel economy ranges from 26 mpg city, 32 highway for the base model with the manual down to 21/29 for the S AWD.

Handling and Ride
The Matrix is built around a stiff, rigid body structure that relies on high tensile-strength steels, gussets and crossmembers for its strength, rigidity and light weight. The front suspension is composed of a compact, rigid L-arm-type independent MacPherson strut with a stabilizer bar. The Matrix S AWD features a double-wishbone rear suspension with a coil-over-shock arrangement, which allows efficient packaging along with excellent handling and ride comfort.

Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all Matrix models. The Matrix grade is equipped with 10.7-inch ventilated front discs and 10.1-inch solid discs in the rear. Matrix S features 11.6-inch ventilated front discs and 10.9-inch solid discs in the rear (11.0-inch for AWD).
The Matrix’s standard 16-inch steel wheels come with sporty six-spoke full wheel covers and P205/55R16 tires. Seventeen-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels are available on both Matrix standard and S with 215/45R17 tires.

The available AWD system with active torque control on the Matrix S is front-wheel-drive-based and distributes torque to the rear wheels through an electromagnetic coupler when needed, such as when the front wheels slip, during heavy acceleration, or on a grade. This active torque control system detects available traction based on signals sent from the ABS sensors on each wheel to the ECU. Traction Control (TRAC) provides an extra measure of wheel slip control, on both front-wheel-drive and AWD models.

Safety and Security
In addition to the Star Safety System, Matrix incorporates a comprehensive list of safety features. Featuring front and rear crumple zones, the Matrix is designed to efficiently absorb and disperse impact energy throughout the body structure. Deformation of the passenger cabin is well managed due to the impact-energy-distribution design and high-strength steel used in the body. 2012 nissan nv2500 Price, Review, Specs

2012 nissan nv2500, what car reviews, Nissan has been full of little surprises in the utility-vehicle realm lately—the Rogue, the Cube, the Juke—and here’s another, although the word “little” doesn’t apply in the case of the NV cargo van. Not when the subject vehicle stands 105 inches tall, with a cargo hold capable of swallowing a couple of basketball teams—or maybe three or four juvenile giraffes—standing at full height.

The surprises here are multiple: first, that Nissan chose to play in this game at all. The full-size-van market amounts to about 300,000 units in most years (although it dipped sharply in 2008 and ’09), and it’s dominated by Ford (about 50 percent) and General Motors (around 45 percent). The Sprinter, which has been sold here wearing Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, and Freightliner badges, has hitherto been the only tall van in this segment and accounts for the other five percent. So, it’s a relatively small market that is 95-percent owned by domestic makes whose loyal customers are hard to seduce. Apparently, Nissan took that as a challenge.

\"2012

2012 nissan nv2500 specs

Engine performance, then, is pretty good for a vehicle in this size and weight class, and fuel economy is about what you’d expect. The EPA doesn’t require mpg ratings for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) above 8500 pounds, and the NV tested here carries a 9100-pound GVWR. We logged 11 mpg during the van’s two-week stay—not impressive, but that did include almost 400 miles of towing to and from GingerMan Raceway in western Michigan.

Deliberate Dynamics
This van’s dynamics also are what you’d expect. The suspension manages that towering aspect ratio surprisingly well, but this isn’t the kind of rig you take to your weekend autocross. The steering is slow—4.0 turns lock-to-lock—and transient responses tend toward ponderous.

Pickup Power
Although the underpinnings are new, the powertrains are familiar, as both are from the Nissan pickup inventory. The base van with the high or standard roof is propelled by a 4.0-liter V-6 (261 hp, 281 lb-ft of torque) from the mid-size Frontier. The optional engine is the Titan’s 5.6-liter V-8 (317 hp, 385 lb-ft), which is standard in the top-spec 3500 and powered the example tested here. Both engines transmit power to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. There is no four-wheel-drive option. At the test track, this powertrain plus a 6220-pound curb weight added up to a 0-to-60-mph time of 8.4 seconds—not exactly thrilling, but much quicker than the 11.6 seconds recorded by the last Sprinter we tested. The NV also trumped the Sprinter’s passing times: 4.2 and 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 30 mph to 50 and 50 to 70, respectively, compared with 5.7 and 9.0 seconds. There didn’t seem to be much degradation when we hooked up some 4500 pounds of trailer and race car and loaded a few hundred pounds of spares inside, either.

2012 nissan nv2500 price

Base prices for a standard-roof NV range from $25,570 for the base V-6 1500 model to $30,770 for the 3500 HD SV, giving Nissan’s standard vans pricing parity with domestic equivalents. Although the NV lacks a diesel option, as well as the range of body sizes offered by the Sprinter line, it does come to market with a price schedule that undercuts its high-roof competition by a significant margin. Our test unit—a well-equipped 2500 HD SV high-roof model, had a base price of $31,470.

Removing Road Salt From Your Car

Removing Road Salt From Your Car, what car reviews, Road salt is something that needs to be removed from your vehicle as often as possible and if you live in an area where salt is frequently used to improve road conditions, you know how difficult it can be to keep your car clean. Unfortunately, this is not something that is done regularly, and vehicle owners are constantly surprised when spring rolls around and suddenly they see spots of rust or other damage where a pristine paint job appeared only a few months earlier. The reason for this is fairly simple.

Salt—particularly the salt that is used on roadways—is a caustic substance that can eat away at other substances over time. If salt is left on a car, or even on the upholstery of a car, there is going to be noticeable damage.

Though cleaning is not something that anyone really looks forward to, removing road salt is important and anyone can do it with just a little time. Properly removing all the road salt that seems to accumulate on your car during the winter months is easy if you simply use these guidelines.

\"Removing

* Exterior. Probably the single easiest task when it comes to cleaning your car. During the winter months you want to keep an eye out for ways to work smarter, not harder. Take advantage of those automatic car washes. They will remove a vast majority of the road salt from your exterior. The best part of this is that you won\’t run the risk of hypothermia when cleaning! On average you should get your car washed within three days of any salting to cut down the risk of rust and paint damage. Doing this is also going to help protect your undercarriage and wheels, since many automatic car washes also get these portions of the vehicle at the same time.

* Leather Upholstery. If you have leather upholstery, you\’ll want to clean them regularly during the winter months to remove any road salt that has come in contact with the seats. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any loose salt and grime. Use some leather cleaning solution (similar to the kind used for soft leather boots and shoes) and a soft white cloth to apply it. Rub gently but firmly until any stains are removed. Apply a leather protectant similar to the ones used for leather boots or shoes. Allow your leather upholstery to dry, keeping it warm enough to dry and not freeze.

* Fabric Upholstery. The best way to clean road salt from fabric upholstery is similar to what you do for leather. Dry brush all the loose gunk off the seats. Simply lift the floor mats up and out. For the ground-in junk, use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Apply it to your upholstery with a sponge and wipe away. The vinegar is going to simply dissolve the ground-in junk and clean the stain at the same time.

By keeping the salt off your vehicle, you will greatly increase the life of your car\’s appearance.

2012 The Jaguar XF Price, Review, Specs

2012 The Jaguar XF, what car reviews, 2012 The Jaguar XF ranks 1 out of 13 luxury large cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 47 published reviews and test drives of the Jaguar XF, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
with an updated look, an interior filled with high-tech toys and standard V8 power, the 2012 Jaguar XF offers impressive performance, but lacks the comfort of some competing luxury large cars.

\"2012

2012 The Jaguar XF specs

The Jaguar XF is available in four trim levels: base, Portfolio, Supercharged and XFR. Both base and Portfolio trims receive a 385-horsepower 5.0-liter V8, while the Supercharged and the XFR offer 470 and 510 horsepower, respectively, with the help of a supercharger and the same 5.0-liter V8.
All XF models come standard with a 7-inch touch screen display which controls audio, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, climate control and navigation. Rear parking sensors, heated front seats and push-button ignition also come standard. Portfolio, Supercharged and XFR trims also come equipped with larger wheels, front parking sensors, heated and ventilated front seats, a backup camera and an upgraded, suede-like headliner
.
The XF performance is very good, More high-performance sedan than luxury cruiser, the 2012 Jaguar XF offers nimble handling and standard V8 power that sets it apart from other lluxury large cars. Still, you can’t get the XF with all-wheel drive, which is an available option on much of the competition.

The XF interior is good, Unique features such as a start button that pulsates red, vents that rotate open and a gear selector that rises from the center console on start-up give the 2012 Jaguar XF a high-tech feel that many rivals can’t match. Still, the XF loses points for its sluggish multi-media interface and lack of rear seat leg room.

The XF exterior is good too, the XF is a clear departure from previous design cues. For 2012, Jaguar has upped the ante with small updates that make the XF look more like its big brother, the jaguar JX. The grill sports a more upright design, while head lights and tail lights have been reworked, giving the XF a sleeker and more aggressive look. Reviewers love the updates, especially since the XF boasts sportier sheet metal than many of its luxury large car rivals.

2012 The Jaguar XF price

Base models start at $53,000, while Portfolio models add $6,000 to the price tag. Opt for a supercharged powerplant, and the price will jump to roughly $68,000 for an XF Supercharged or $82,000 for an XFR.

2012 Volkswagen jetta Price, Review, Specs

2012 Volkswagen jetta, what car reviews, The latest Volkswagen jetta didn\’t do much to appeal to enthusiasts in its first model year, but with 2012, the VW Jetta gets its GLI back–and that model earns a rating of 7 here at MotorAuthority. The GLI succeeds many past models that took Jetta basics and transformed them with better tires, quicker steering, and a more sporty interior. The 2012 goes a step further, even, by adding a completely different rear suspension than the one found on base cars, and a soft-touch dash, too.

\"2012

2012 Volkswagen jetta specs

While aficionados complained about the not-quite VW handling and interior, engineers were already putting the finishing touches on the GLI. They started with a rorty turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a well-known entity in the VW world, with 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The engine\’s coupled to a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch (DSG) transmissions, both fine units.

We prefer the paddle-shifted DSG, but with either, the turbo\’s flat torque band and grunty vocals give an urgency to the GLI that\’s completely missing from the base four-cylinder, five-cylinder, and diesel Jettas. VW claims a 0-60 mph time of less than 8.0 seconds, and with the DSG, quotes EPA gas mileage at 23/29 mpg.

The GLI\’s handling is a cut above the base Jetta as well. The torsion-beam rear end of other models is swapped out for a multi-link rear end that\’s also found in the new VW Beetle Turbo. The GLI also has tighter spring and shock values, and rides 15 mm lower than other versions–plus, it has XDS, an electronically simulated limited-slip differential for the front wheels that helps keep wheelspin to a minimum. All the changes work fairly brilliantly: the GLI turns in crisply thanks to its electric power steering, with a tolerable level of feedback.

The ride quality\’s better than just about everything in the class, and the GLI hangs in for wide sweepers and tight corners better than most other compacts, save maybe for the latest Ford Focus. It\’s a pretty agile piece, with just a whiff of torque steer making its way down to 17-inch or optional 18-inch wheels and tires.

2012 Volkswagen jetta price

With a new entry price of $26,490 for the 118TSI variant ($4500 less than its predecessor), the Jetta range tops out at $37,990 for the 147TSI Highline. The previous entry-level variant, the miserly 77TDI, is absent from the 2012 line-up, with the diesel range now starting and ending with the 103TDI. Priced at $34,990, the 2.0 litre diesel is now $1000 more affordable than before.

2012 Ferarri 458 Italia Price, Reviews, Specs

2012 Ferarri 458 Italia, what car reviews, The big news for the Ferrari faithful for 2012 is the addition of the 458 Spider to the lineup. Unlike its predecessors, Ferrari has ditched the fabric convertible mechanism for a superamerica flip top. Where the Superamerica’s transparent roof flipped over and atop the rear lid, the 458 Spider’s small rear glass and bulk of the roof separate three quarters of the way into the roof, before both stack and flip under a raised tonneau cover. Ferrari says its patented design keeps the folded roof from intruding into rear engine compartment or cabin area and even leaves room for a small luggage bench behind the two chairs.

Made entirely from aluminum, the 458 Spider’s top apparatus weighs 55 pounds less than a traditional soft-top and opens and closes in a fast-for-a-hardtop 14 seconds. Altogether, Ferrari says the 458 Spider (it dropped the Italia in all the convertible’s press materials) is 111 pounds heavier than the coupe for a dry weight of 3,153 pounds; we anticipate its curb weight to be around 3,400 pounds. Ferrari says it will run zero-to-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and top out at more than 198 mph, a modest increase of 0.1 of a second and decrease of four miles per hour compared to the coupe.

The new rear cover features two large and six smaller intakes feeding the engine and cooling the radiators for the clutch and gearbox oil. Air is diverted inward by two large roll hoops behind and on either side of the passengers’ chairs. The visuals provided by the intake vents and buttresses, especially from an angle above the car, are nothing short of mesmerizing. The rest of the Pininfarina-penned coupe’s aerodynamically sculpted lines and compact shape are retained. The only item we will miss is the transparent rear window with easy visual access to the 4.5-liter V-8 engine.

Like the coupe, and an often-unmentioned aspect of the 458 italia, the car’s screaming engine normally creates 557 hp and only makes the full 562 when the little deformable flaps in the front intakes are flattened at very high speeds. The V-8 features direct fuel injection for less fuel consumption and emissions while improving performance. Despite its high-revving nature, the power plant puts out 80 percent of its 398 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. The coupe\’s traditional flat-plane racing crankshaft and triple exhaust parlay with the 9,000-rpm redline to produce a mechanical aria that is as patriotic sounding to Italian car lovers as the car’s name. Ferrari says it tweaked the 458 Spider’s exhaust note further for even more ear splendor within the cabin.
