2011 Infiniti G37 Price, Review & Picture

2011 Infiniti G37 Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, To commemorate the brand’s twentieth year in the U.S., Infiniti is offering Anniversary Editions of the G in all three bodystyles. Painted in a special gray hue and featuring unique red leather trim, the Anniversary Editions come with a seven-speed automatic, navigation, sport package and four-wheel active steer (sedan, coupe), climate-controlled seats (convertible), revised fascias, and new alloy wheels with W-rated summer tires.

The G model by Infiniti is now in its second generation; the sedan, coupe or convertible configurations are available. The Infiniti G has a luxurious cabin, exceptional driving dynamics, and superb acceleration. The vehicle has a 3.7 Liter V-6 motor married to one of two trannys: the six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed, downshift, rev-matching, automatic gearbox. The former gearbox is offered with paddle shifters crafted out of magnesium.

The coupe and sedan configurations are fitted with ATESSA ET-S All Wheel Drive for car buyers demanding excellent on the road grippage. The G also comes in a convertible configuration too; it has a hardtop, smooth folding roof that opens or closes in roughly thirty seconds. All configurations have an engine offering 325 horsepower. The G conquers zero-to-sixty in 6 seconds and gets 24 mpg.

The Infiniti G has an optional package offering eighteen or nineteen-inch alloy wheels, speedy steering, and high performance, four-wheel disc brakes. The G is crafted to compete with the 3 Series by BMW and car buyers will find that G less expensive than the competition.

Even after a few years on the market, the second-gen G line still looks fresh, what with a wave-style hood, double-arch grille, sweeping character lines, and L-shaped HID headlamps. Sporty wheels, ranging from 17 to 19 inches, complete the sport/luxury image.

Arguably the finest in their class, G interiors come standard with leather trim, power front seats, automatic climate control, aluminum trim, intelligent key, and pushbutton start. Options include Bluetooth, navigation, back-up camera, and heated seats.

A 3.7-liter, 24-valve V-6 motivates the various G models, offering specific outputs for each — 325 horsepower for convertible, 328 for sedan, and 330 for coupe. A six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic are available on all models. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional on coupes and sedans. A front control-arm/rear multi-link suspension and available 19-inch alloys deliver decidedly sporty dynamics.

Standard on all Infiniti Gs are six airbags (dual front, front side, and front/rear curtain), HID headlamps, front-seat active head restraints, and electronic stability control. In case of a rollover, convertibles receive second-row fixed head restraints with pop-up roll bars.

2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Price, Review & Picture

2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, The Wrangler became almost luxurious. This year, Jeep decided to do some work under the hood. The carmaker replaced the sloth-like 205-hp 3.8-liter V6 and old-school four-speed automatic with the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and A580 five-speed automatic that debuted in the new Grand Cherokee last year. And manual transmission fans can rest easy.

The NSG 370 six-speed manual is still available, but wears a new clutch assembly. The new V6 makes 285 hp and a solid 260 lb-ft of torque—that’s an improvement of 80 hp and 20 lb-ft. Also, the more powerful motor, standard 3.21:1 axle ratio (3.73:1 and 4.10:1 gears are also available), and new transmission combine for a 10 percent fuel-economy benefit.

The standard tow capacity remains at 2000 pounds, unless you get the extra tow package, which bumps the rating to 3500 lbs. These Wranglers could probably tow more, but Jeep says the towing capacity is limited by the cooling system. Along with the powertrain improvements, you can now order the 2012 Wrangler with a body color hardtop and fender flares. And Jeep has retuned the shocks too.

The new 3.6-liter V6 is all-aluminum, so it weighs more than 90 pounds less then the old cast-iron block 3.8-liter V6. The new engine is 94 mm shorter as well. That may not sound like much, but it helped engineers package an improved, higher-flow intake system. It also allowed Jeep’s engineers to raise the alternator, so the 2012 Wrangler can ford deeper water.

It’s difficult to accurately gauge the dramatic improvement in acceleration from this new V6 without sampling the previous model at the same time. So we took twin 2011 and 2012 automatic-equipped Wranglers out for a test drive. The results were dramatic. We got both Jeeps up to about 30 mph and then pinned the throttle simultaneously. The old Wrangler falls behind the new one as if it were saddled with a heavy trailer. And from a dead stop in a foot-to-the-floor drag race, the new Wrangler pulls away. Jeep says it’s a 25 percent improvement in 0–60 acceleration. We believe them.

Track improvements aside, you can’t properly test a Wranger without getting it a little dirty. So we convoyed a group of 2012 Wranglers from Lake Tahoe to the head of the famed Rubicon trail for two days of four wheeling. The heavy snowfall and recent snowmelt made the trail more difficult. Crawling up wet rocks, the Jeeps would slide around, hunt for traction and sometimes slam hard onto their skidplates as a tire would slip from a rock. Each Jeep in our group was a Rubicon model, with locking differentials, a front swaybar disconnect, low gearing and aggressive tires. Still, the progress was slow. We made less than a half a mile per hour as we snaked the Jeeps through incredibly tight boulder fields, powered out of mudholes and waded through doorsill-deep pools of water.

Price : $22,045–$33,570

Powertrain: 3.6-liter V6, 285 hp; 260 lb-ft; six-speed manual or five-speed automatic; four-wheel drive

2011 Chevrolet Cruze Price, Review & Picture

2011 Chevrolet Cruze Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, Based on GM’s global Delta platform, the large Cruze compact sedan replaces the unloved Cobalt. Suspension is MacPherson strut/coil spring front suspension and z-link torsion beam rear, and the optional turbocharged four is all-new. Cruze is designed to elevate Chevy’s small car reputation, with interior design and materials designed to be a step up from the midsize Malibu.

The Chevrolet Cruze for 2011 has front-drive and is a midrange alternative to the Chevrolet Cobalt. The Cruze is emblematic of GM’s transitioning and a symbol of the company’s rebirth following its financial difficulties from a few years back. Regardless of the fact that the carmaker has failed to profit on smaller vehicles, GM is still trying to profit from their four-door Cruze sedans.

The Cruze has a midsized car trunk space, and the base configuration, originally offered in 2009, comes with a 1.8 L four-cylinder motor that could be improved since it delivers substandard performance. The Cruze is 70.7 inches wide and 181 inches long. It has a height of 51.8 inches and its wheelbase dimensions are 105 inches.

Entering the United States car market, the Cruze comes with a 1.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder motor as an option for car buyers; the latter competes against Hondas and Toyotas. An eco-friendly configuration hosting aerodynamic modifications including a six speed manual transmission, a .4 inch lowered body, and lower grille shutters. It passes EPA testing since it delivers 27/40 mpg.

The efficiently packaged sedan features an arched roofline and a relatively long wheelbase with short front and rear overhangs. As if from Chevrolet’s heyday, tailored lines make the Cruze look more expensive than it is. Like the Malibu, the high trim-level LTZ features two-tone interior and heated leather seats. Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, XM satellite radio, OnStar, a navigation system and a nine-speaker Pioneer audio system are among the options.

The Cruz ECO model has less sound-deadening than other versions, saving about 275 pounds. Its low-rolling resistance tires squeal easily in tight corners while its taller gearing lengthens its acceleration times. The Cruze LTZ with its standard 18-inch wheels is the sport sedan version, sacrificing some ride quality for sharp handling. The LT with the base suspension nicely compromises ride and handling.

Chevy claims a class-leading 10 airbags, including front, side curtain bags, front and rear outboard seat airbags, and knee bags, first in its class. StabiliTrak with rollover sensing, traction control and anti-lock brakes is standard.

2011 Nissan Xterra Price, Review & Picture

2011 Nissan Xterra Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, For 2011 the Xterra sees minor changes to a model line that includes X, S, Off-Road, and SE models, with all but the Off-Road available with two-wheel drive. Changes for the new model year include an X Gear Package — available on S and SE — which includes fog lamps, roof rack crossbars, a gear basket, first aid kit, and cargo net, with the last two exclusive to the SE.

Introduced in the year 2000 after debuting in 1999 in the Detroit auto show is the Xterra. The Xterra was an immediate success and appeals to young, busy consumers. The Xterra fuses exceptional on/off road handling, great performance, and aggressive style. It was named the SUV of the Year by Motor Trend in 2000.

The newest Xterra is now in its third generation and it’s a fantastic combo. It’s outfitted with a V-6, 261 hp motor, body-on-frame design, and a live rear axle. It’s bold, brazen, and it sports a roof rack and a rear step as standard embellishments. The 2011 configurations are, for the most part, carryovers of earlier configurations. Thus, the Xterra continues to be quite appealing. This vehicle competes with Toyota’s FJ Cruiser and the Jeep Wrangler.

The Xterra and the Pathfinder, the Titan truck, as well as the Armanda SUVs share a similar platform. It has a 106.3 inch wheelbase, and is off-road capabilities are exceptional. It sports a fold flat seat in the second row thereby increasing cargo space to as much as 65.7 ft.³

Xterra’s classic styling cues include a built-in roof rack with closable storage, rear side steps for roof access, and available roof-mounted fog lamps. Oversized fender flares and high-mounted rear door handles integrated into the C-pillars round out the stout look. With a built-in first-aid kit, tie-down channel system, and “easy clean” cargo area with ten cargo hooks, the Xterra treats further with keyless entry, tilt steering column, under-floor cargo storage, a 60/40-split rear seat, and available leather trim.

Every Xterra utilizes a 4.0-liter V-6 that delivers 261 horsepower. A six-speed manual is standard on X and Off-Road models, with a five-speed automatic fitted to the S and SE. A front control-arm/rear live-axle suspension underpins Xterra, with towing capacity coming in at 6000 pounds. In addition to a skid plate for the radiator, the Off-Road gets protection for the oil pan, fuel tank, and transfer case.

Nissan equips every Xterra with front, front-side, and side curtain airbags, the latter for outboard occupants in both rows. The Xterra also receives front-seat active head restraints, stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

2011 Ford Edge Price, Review & Picture

2011 Ford Edge Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, With a new model waiting in the wings, the 2011 Ford Edge is nearly unchanged save for fuel-economy bumps of 1 mpg city and highway for front-drive models and 2 mpg city/1 mpg highway for all-wheel drive models. Also new is the Limited Interior Appearance Package, which includes Sienna leather upholstery and contrasting stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob.

The 2011 Ford Edge offered by Blue Oval is a crossover, mid-sized vehicle. This crossover SUV was launched in 2006 as the 2007 model and since its entry in the market, it has changed little. A Sport configuration was offered two years later in 2009.

The Edge comes with all-wheel-drive in many of its permutations. The crossover SUV has a good fuel economy as well. When utilizing the all-wheel-drive, the frontend of the Edge is weighty and it hinders on the road performance. The Edge will soon get a redesign that will include a V-6 EcoBoost twin-turbo motor option, and an improved exterior/interior. Discounts will soon be offered on 2010 configurations too as the new 2011 models enter the scene.

The Edge is a two-row of seating configuration supplying enough passenger room for five people. The vehicle does not offer a third row: this proves advantageous for those seeking cabin space and legroom. The Sync connectivity system is inside the Edge’s cabin as are a long list of nice amenities. Basically, the vehicle is spacious, comfortable, attractive, and practical.

All Ford Edge models come with a large chrome grille. Edge SEL and higher models come standard with fog lamps. Wheel sizes range from 17s on SEs to 20s on Sports that can be bumped up to 22s. Depending on trim, the Edge can be had with a cloth or leather interior. Optional features include a nine-speaker stereo, navigation system, and rear-seat entertainment. Max cargo space is 69.0 cubic-feet with the rear seats folded.

The 2011 Ford Edge’s all-aluminum 3.5-liter V-6 makes an adequate 265 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, but there’s no higher-power engine option. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission choice for both front- and all-wheel drive models. The somewhat heavy Edge, especially when fitted with large wheels, handles more like a full-size SUV than a midsize one.

The Ford Edge comes standard with compliment of six airbags, including side-curtain airbags for both rows. Other safety features include four-wheel ABS, stability and traction control, seatbelt pretensioners, and a crash severity sensor.

2011 Toyota Matrix Price, Review & Picture

2011 Toyota Matrix Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, Following the introduction of the new-generation Matrix for 2010, not much changed for 2011 Toyota Matrix. The biggest news was that all trim levels of the Matrix received stability control and traction control as standard equipment. Otherwise, the same engines and trim levels return: 132-horsepower, 1.8-liter four with a manual or automatic, or 158-horsepower, 2.4-liter four with a choice of three transmissions.

The Toyota Matrix, a five door hatchback, entered the market in 2003; it is a Corolla based offering that is offered as a separate vehicle. The Matrix and Corolla have the identical structures. The 2011 Toyota Matrix competes with the Mazda3, the Hyundai Elantra Touring, and the Kia Forte. The Matrix was very similar to the Pontiac Vibe until Pontiac line stopped being produced. In 2009, the Matrix was refreshed.

The Matrix’s future for 2011 remains in question at this point in time. The new design in 2009 led to greater style and more power. It is offered with one of two motors too; the base edition comes with a 1.8 Liter four cylinder engine, a carryover offering, and the horsepower and torque were improved. The Matrix is offered with either a four speed auto or a five speed manual tranny as well. In the S configurations, the vehicle is offered with all wheel drive and it sports a four speed tranny. The XRS configuration sports a five speed manual or auto tranny. The Matrix combines value and versatility.

The new styling of the Matrix is more aggressive than the previous generation, but it’s still clearly a Matrix. Sixteen-inch wheels are standard on the base model and S, 18-inch wheels are standard on the XRS. Air conditioning with filter and 12-volt power port are standard across the 2010 Toyota Matrix lineup. Matrix S models add power door locks and windows; XRS adds unique sport fabric, upgraded audio, XM-ready antenna, and aux jack.

We recently tested the Toyota Matrix XRS with the five-speed manual and 2.4-liter four cylinder engine and it went from 0 to 60 in an impressive 7.3 seconds. In addition, it completed the quarter mile in 15.7 seconds at 88.4 mph. However, the engine is unrefined and buzzy and the overall driving experience is somewhat unengaging. Braking numbers were good — the Matrix stopped from 60 mph in 128 feet.

Dual front airbags, dual front side airbags, and side curtain airbags are standard on the Toyota Matrix. So are stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, and tire-pressure monitoring.

2012 Volkswagen GLI Price, Review & Picture

2012 Volkswagen GLI Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, Almost everything other than the drivetrain that it retains from the GTI and 2010 GLI. Compared to the standard Jetta, the GLI packs a firmer suspension, an independent rear suspension, rear disc brakes, and more upscale interior accoutrements, VW’s RNS 315 touch screen stereo head unit, and an optional Fender stereo, and even the nicer interior materials from the Euro-spec cars. The Jetta GLI is a decidedly higher-class car than the other sedans in the Jetta lineup.

Returning to Volkswagen’s lineup for the first time since 2010, the Jetta GLI adds some spark to the German automaker’s small-sedan offerings. Unlike the 2010 model, however, this Jetta GLI shares little more than its drivetrain with the Golf GTI hatchback. On the new-for-2011 Jetta platform, the new car is larger in most every capacity than its predecessor. Powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine as the GTI, the GLI is capable of pumping out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque.

That power is routed to the front wheels by way of either a six-speed manual or optional six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Unlike its lesser siblings, the Jetta GLI makes use of a four-way independent rear suspension instead of a twist beam rear axle and ditches the rear drums for standard disc brakes all around. Volkswagen has also outfitted the GLI with the same XDS cross differential system that helps prevent inside wheelspin in hard cornering.

Despite being down on power and up in size and weight versus many of its sport compact competitors, Volkswagen has always found a way to go beyond the spec sheet to provide fun, agile compact cars. With three different levels of specification, the Jetta GLI is more or less the same flavor of fun whether choosing from the base, Autobahn, or Autobahn with Navigation.

With a wider front air dam, smoked tail lights, and larger wheels, changes to the exterior are unstated. The Jetta GLI comes standard with 17-inch wheels and has 18-inchers available with the Autobahn package. At 182.2 inches long – 2.9 inches longer than the outgoing model – the GLI is nipping at midsize car territory. Its sharp lines are a departure from the previous GLI, boasting an almost Audi-like look to it. Capped by two exhaust pipes that flank either side of the rear bumper, the GLI has a look that’s conservative yet aggressive.

In increasing the size of the Jetta, Volkswagen made the interior of its Jetta positively livable for just about any group of four, or five in a pinch. Rear leg room is among the best in its class, and it’s more capacious than many larger cars. That said, the Jetta GLI is intended to be a performance car, and there are plenty of upgrades. Red cross-stitching adorns the handbrake lever, shifter boot, and flat-bottomed steering wheel that only comes in the GLI. Available with plaid cloth or leatherette, the sport bucket seats provide more bolstering than the wider, softer standard Jetta buckets. Completing the package are alloy pedals, shift lever, and trim, and the interior materials taken straight from the higher-quality European Jettas instead of the harder, cheaper plastics used in standard U.S. models.

Although bigger than its predecessor, the new GLI actually undercuts its forbearer on the scales by roughly 100 pounds. Acceleration to 60 mph should be brisk and in the mid-six-second neighborhood. Judging from impressions of similar GTIs, the ride should be on the firmer side of the spectrum, but not uncomfortable. Volkswagen has tuned the steering and suspension to keep in line with the traditional sharpness the GLI has become associated with. The DSG transmission is engaging in manual mode, but in auto mode shifts are slow and laggy.

The Jetta GLI comes standard with stability control, tire pressure monitoring, and Volkswagen’s Intelligent Crash Response System, which shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks all of the doors, and turns on the hazard lights in the event of a collision. The Jetta GLI also features front airbags, side airbags, and side curtain airbags for front and rear passengers.

Body style: Four-door sedan

2011 Lexus SC430 Price, Review & Picture

2011 Lexus SC430 Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, For 2011, there are new dark-hued 18-inch six-spoke wheels, the side mirrors have integrated puddle lamps, and Costa Azul Mica is a new available exterior color. Inside, the SC 430′s navigation and Mark Levinson audio system have been upgraded it features iPod/auxiliary and USB connectivity, Bluetooth, and available XM satellite radio with a three-month subscription included.

The Lexus SC was the third model of the vehicle that was offered on the automotive market in the early 1990s. This vehicle has been sold with several engine options. The SC of yesteryear also hosted a hardtop that was retractible, and even with minimal pizzazz and styling, the vehicle was a top selling unit.

The SC 430 sports a 4.3-Liter V-8 engine with 288 horsepower, 317 ft-lbs. of torque and rear drive. The SC 430′s engine is joined to a six-speed auto tranny. The convertible configuration can conquer zero to sixty in 5.8 seconds too. Past offerings included the limited edition Pebble Beach model, and most recently, this vehicle has received a number of features that are found in Lexus’s other vehicles.

The SC 430 is the car’s second-generation model and it entered the market about ten years after the first SC. This vehicle is nearing its twentieth year and the end of its lifecycle. It will be displaced by the Lexus IS C. Consumers desiring the SC 430 must move fast to get the most recent offering.

The last year of the SC 430 continues the way it always has with low-key lines and somewhat bland styling cues. The 2010 model has new dark-finish 18-inch six-spoke wheels and integrated puddle lamps in the side mirrors. There are so many features that are standard real wood, leather, power everything, Mark Levinson audio system that there are no options in the cabin. The navigation and stereo systems were upgraded for 2010.

The SC 430′s 288 horsepower V-8 engine with 317-pound-feet of torque is smooth, as is the six-speed automatic transmission. As has been the case through the years, the suspension is tuned for comfort, so the SC does not excel in the slalom. Lexus estimates that its SC 430 reaches 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, finishes the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 149 mph.

Dual front airbags are standard on the SC 430, as well as front seat-mounted side airbags and dual front knee airbags. It also comes with antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, as well as stability control and traction control.

2011 Subaru Outback Price, Review & Picture

2011 Subaru Outback Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, A new feature for the 2011 Subaru Outback is a rear vision camera, added to Premium and Limited models, which is bundled with the Power Moonroof package. 2012 Hyundai Genesis Price, Review & Picture

2012 Hyundai Genesis Price, Review & PictureNew Car Reviews, Hyundai has introduced an all-new model for 2012; the 5.0 R-Spec. This model packs a 5.0-liter V8 producing 429 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. The Genesis has more standard equipment including LED headlight accents and daytime running lights, and outside mirror puddle lamps. Hyundai has added a more aggressive front fascia with larger intake openings, and redesigned headlights and taillights.

The award-winning Hyundai Genesis enters 2012 as strong as ever, unfortunate news for Mercedes-Benz and BMW. It has received exterior design improvements, new direct-injection technology for its Lambda V-6 engine, a new eight-speed automatic transmission, and enhanced chassis tuning. The 3.8-liter engine produces 333 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, while the 4.6- liter engine produces 385 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque.

Hyundai has made the Genesis exterior even better for 2012, giving it a more aggressive appearance. This starts with the new front fascia and larger intake openings. Also, the headlights have been redesigned, adding LED accents and daytime running lights. The 17-inch alloy wheel design has been freshened. Adding to the sporty design is the side window surround that received a sporty brushed aluminum finish. New dual asymmetrical exhaust tips have been added, along with a new rear bumper fascia.

The interior of the 2012 Genesis is roomy, with a total volume of 125.3 cubic feet, and a cargo volume of 15.9 cubic feet. The interior is covered with woodgrain accents. Hyundai offers a seven-inch navigation touch screen with features such as XM Nav Traffic. The 4.6 and R-Spec models come standard with leather-wrapped dash and door trim inserts.

It all starts with the new R-Spec model. This sedan packs a lot of power with 429 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. However, there’s no mistaking that this is a large sedan with a curb weight of 4046 pounds, although the new eight-speed automatic transmission should improve driving dynamics.

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis has 8 airbags: dual front airbags, front and rear seat-mounted side impact airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags. A four-channel, four-sensor anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution is also standard.
