Say what you will say about the Cayenne and Panamera detracting from the Porsche brand, the geniuses behind these cars knew that a there was a marketplace primed for such vehicles. So even though the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S will start at a whopping $173,200, we have no doubts customers are already lining up.
Going on sale this spring, the Panamera Turbo S adds an additional 50 hp and 37 lb-ft of torque to the sporty four-door sedan. Engaging the Sport Chrono Package with a touch of the “Sport Plus” button increases torque even higher to 590 lb-ft. The 10-plus percent increase in power comes courtesy of new twin turbochargers with titanium–aluminum turbines that are lighter (and thus more responsive) and a modified engine control unit.
With Launch Control set, the newest Panamera can reach 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and on to a top track speed of 190 mph. Like the move from the 2011 911 Turbo to 2011 911 Turbo S, fuel consumption in the Panamera Turbo S is expected to remain comparable to the Panamera Turbo, which delivers an EPA rating of 15 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.
The car rides on 20-inch Turbo II wheels and wears side skirts from the Porsche Exclusive range and Turbo S badges. Aside from these small modifications, at a quick glance, it is hard to differentiate the Turbo S from the Turbo or even the base Panamera. The car will be available in an exclusive Agate Gray Metallic exterior paint. Inside, new black/cream and Agate Grey/cream color combinations will be offered only on the new Panamera Turbo S.
